As expected, AMD introduced the 16-core 32-thread Ryzen 9 3950X at E3 2019. AMD also showed off some performance numbers for the 3950X that can give quite a complex for Intel's HEDT offerings.

An AMD Ryzen 5 3600 was shown to beat the Intel Core i7-8700 in a leaked PUBG benchmark over at the Chiphell forum. The Ryzen 5 3600 was shown to average about 6.3% higher than the 8700 when both of them were paired with DDR4-3000 RAM and a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. The larger cache size on Ryzen could work well for gamers, but further data and testing are needed for an absolute conclusion.

Although recent BIOS updates for X370- and X470-based mainboards were supposed to include PCIe Gen 4 support, AMD's Robert Hallock has just confirmed on Reddit that this option will not be available in the final firmware releases for 3rd generation Ryzen (AGESA 1000+). Obviously, most of those who replied to his message consider this a mistake.

AMD is taking on Intel with not just one or two but a total of five high-end desktop CPUs that promise far greater performance than Intel's offerings at lower TDPs and price points. The new Ryzen 3000-series is being fabricated on TSMC's 7nm process and offers a multi-chiplet layout with improved IPC, higher core counts, larger cache sizes, and support for PCIe 4.0. A 16-core Zen 2 AMD Ryzen 3000 processor has apparently been benchmarked on Cinebench R15 and offered up a score that will surprise or amaze many. It’s believed the chip in question has a base clock of 3.2 GHz with a boost available up to 4.3 GHz. The unnamed AMD product is supposed to have attained a score of 4,278 points.

Codenamed "Valhalla," the X570 chipset brings PCIe 4.0 to consumer desktop computers. The motherboards to use it will support the upcoming EPYC and Ryzen processors. The leaked specs come from reliable source Tum Apisak on Twitter, who managed to intercept a 16-core engineering sample that is usually offered by AMD to motherboard makers for design purposes. With 3.3 GHz default clocks and boost clocks reaching 4.5 GHz, the unnamed chip may turn up to be the Ryzen 9 3800X model leaked in late 2018 by AdoredTV.

A PC builder has managed to install four Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics cards in the tiniest of desktop cases, and then proceeded to amass a huge score of over 3,500 points on OctaneBench while claiming that none of the GPUs exceeded a temperature of 75 °C /167 °F. The customized desktop, which is apparently used for rendering work, also features an AMD CPU.

In comes mention of Zen 3, Zen 4, Milan and cloud gaming connected to Navi, and no doubt to the dismay of HEDT processor fans, out goes the 3rd Gen Ryzen Threadripper CPU.

Happy 50th Anniversary, AMD. The red team is celebrating half a century in business, having been founded on May 1, 1969. There are numerous celebratory products brandishing a flash of gold to enliven proceedings and Newegg is offering all sorts of goodies to those who buy an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X AMD50 Gold Edition – which at one point included entry into a prize draw to win a Matisse processor.

AMD confirms Q3 2019 launch for Navi; initial price will be cheaper than the Radeon VII

AMD has announced in an earnings conference call that its 7nm Navi GPU series will be launched in the third quarter of 2019. It is expected that there will be some sort of revelation about Navi at this year’s Computex, which starts at the end of May, with a possible full reveal at E3 in the second week of June.

Asus reveals full list of AM4 motherboards that will get BIOS updates for AMD's upcoming Ryzen 3000 CPUs

Asus has posted a statement detailing which of its motherboards will be compatible with the upcoming next-generation Ryzen 3000 series of processors from AMD. The list covers models from the 300 and 400 series of products, and Asus has added that further motherboards will be included on the list soon.

Buckets of salt required: Alleged PlayStation 5 spec leak mentions 3.2 GHz Zen 2 CPU and 1.8 GHz/12.9 TF Navi GPU

A new purported leak about the PlayStation 5 has offered up some more detailed information about the key components. Sony already announced that the next-generation console will feature an AMD APU with a 7nm Zen 2 CPU and Navi GPU. But a new leaker claims to have specific clock rates that were apparently obtained from a more recent Sony meeting.

Mock-up of GPD Win Max elicits mixed opinions; rumored specifications published

An image of a mock-up of a GPD Win Max handheld gaming PC has been shared on Reddit, drawing out a mixed response from redditors. The picture shows a printed cut-out that has been placed on top of a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop to give an idea of the Win Max’s dimensions. A list of rumored specifications has also been posted online.

More details on X570 motherboards allegedly leaked

The X570 chipset is compatible with AMD's upcoming Ryzen 3000 series. So far, we have been led to believe that it will support PCIe 4.0 and will, obviously, next-gen performance and speed. A new leak appears to confirm its all-4.0 nature, as well as the number of USB ports an X570 motherboard may have.
