Microsoft executive Panos Panay has taken to Twitter to reveal a new color for the Surface Laptop 2: blush. The device already offers potential customers a range of colors to choose from, which includes platinum, burgundy, cobalt blue, and black. Unfortunately, unless you happen to be in China, then it’s unlikely you will get your hands on the pink product.

Smartphone SoC overclocking is becoming of thing now thanks to technologies like Oppo's Hyper Boost or Huawei's GPU Turbo. Oppo even collaborated with game publishers and game engine developers to provide compatibility for the most popular mobile games and applications. The Hyper Boost technology can also speed up OS tasks.

There are some phones to be released later this year - as well as some that already have been - with in- or under-display fingerprint (FP) scanners. This technology is based on optical (or light) sensors that act to construct a 2D FP model in order to learn, store and authenticate different prints. The uber-popular indie farming simulator Stardew Valley is getting an iOS port this month. The title is up for pre-order on the Apple App Store now and will be available for download October 24 for US$7.99. An Android port will be coming soon. The Pixel Slate is Google's latest tablet. It comes in one colour (Midnight Blue) and has an optional Pixelbook pen and keyboard with a dedicated Google Assistant button. The Pixel Slate runs Chrome OS and has its own Play Store apps.

Since triple-cam setups are becoming the norm, Samsung is upping the ante with rear quad-cam setups now. Surprisingly enough, the first quad-cam model will not be a high-end device, but a premium mid-range one powered by a Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with 6 GB of RAM. The Pixel 3 XL is likely to include that most divisive of features: the notch. A new leak, containing a screen protector described as fitting the upcoming Google phone, may give an idea of its extent in real life. This leak also suggests that, otherwise, the Pixel 3 XL's front panel is not much different to that of the 2 XL.

For the second time in a fortnight, Google has had to sit by and watch as one of its brand new devices gets sold in the wild ahead of its official unveiling. While a Chromecast 3 got sold early by accident, an unscrupulous Hong Kong store is cashing in by selling the Pixel 3 XL quite deliberately early.

Panos Panay opened up on why the Surface Pro 6 and Surface Laptop 2 lack a USB Type-C port while the Surface Studio 2, Surface Go, and even the Surface Headphones have one such port. Panay insisted that USB Type-C will not be at the expense of the traditional USB Type-A port, which still is the connector of choice for most USB devices today. The Type-C connector will eventually make it into future devices but Microsoft is in no hurry to make it happen.

HMD Global is bringing premium features like an HDR10 screen and Zeiss optics for the rear dual-cam to its mid-range lineup. The display features the infamous notch, but, other than that, the specs are quite compelling for the affordable price point, as the Nokia 7.1 is powered by the Snapdragon 636 SoC coupled with 3 or 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32 or 64 GB storage.

A developer has created an app that can test the 60fps rendering capabilities of the S4 SIP, the processing platform found in the 4th-gen Apple Watch. He has reported that the watch equals the iPhone 6S in this test. The watch also used less than 70% of its processing power while running this app.

The Surface Pro 6 tablet is now available in black, as well as the usual platinum color option. Microsoft has updated the Surface Studio desktop computer for the first time since it launched in December 2016. Originally shipping with 6th gen Intel Skylake-based silicon, the new Surface Studio 2 has been refreshed with Intel’s 7th gen Kaby Lake chips.

The latest Geekbench results come to contradict Huawei's claims from last week. The Kirin 980 is certainly not faster than the A12 Bionic, but it does perform better than Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845. This might just be an early Mate 20 test sample and performance might be better on the final version, we'll just have to wait two more weeks to find out for sure.

Pete Lau, the CEO of the smartphone maker OnePlus, has been talking about the company's upcoming release in a new interview with CNET. Lau admitted that this phone, the 6T, is going to retail for more than its predecessor. According to him, Screen Unlock is a driving factor in this decision.

The Honor 7X is barely one year old and the manufacturer is already preparing to launch its direct successor. If the specifications are anything to go by, then the 6.5-inch Honor 8X is looking to be a huge upgrade. We're hopeful that the company can keep the price just as low as before.

OnePlus has posted a teaser video for its upcoming 6T flagship update on Twitter. This clip, which is the first of its kind, may hint at the in-display fingerprint sensor confirmed to feature in the phone. The video also invites us to "Unlock the Future" with the 6T.

Huawei is now rumored to be integrating a new form of device security, Voice Unlock, into its upcoming flagship, the Mate 20 Pro. This device may also have a 6.9-inch screen, as much as 6GB in RAM and an extra-large battery. However, this leak reinforces the lack of a 3.5mm jack in this device.
