While replacing a desktop PC with a Chromebook probably does not sound like a great idea to most people, the new Lenovo Yoga Chromebook can get this job done as well, although we are talking about a convertible notebook with a 180-degree hinge that can do much more than just sit on a desk in laptop mode. Introduced at IFA 2018, this massive convertible — up to 4K resolution 15.6-inch display and 4.2 pounds due to the use of an aluminum chassis — is now finally up for sale in the US via Best Buy.
Unfortunately, those looking for a more powerful or a more affordable hardware configuration can only grab the US$699 Intel Core i5-powered model currently on the market or wait until more hardware options become available. The configuration listed on Best Buy has an 8th generation i5-8250U processor inside, a 15.6-inch full HD IPS multitouch display, 128 GB eMMC flash memory, a microSD reader, an HD webcam with dual array microphone, four USB ports (of which two are USB 3.1 Type-C), WiFi 802.11 ac, and more.
The Lenovo Yoga Chromebook promises a battery life of up to 10 hours and only comes in blue (Midnight Blue, according to the Best Buy description). In the future, we should get at least a cheaper, US$599 version, but we also hope to see a more powerful hardware configuration as well. Would you get a Lenovo Yoga Chromebook with an Intel Core i7 processor and 16 GB of memory? Let us know what would you do with such a powerful — more like "overpowered" — Chromebook in the comments.
