Xiaomi looks set to refresh the Xiaomi 12 series with the Xiaomi 12S lineup later this year. The Xiaomi 12S has now made its first appearance on Geekbench, while posting impressive scores thanks to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 it houses.

New CPU benchmarks have now surfaced pitting Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 against the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and MediaTek's Dimensity 9000. The results are right about what one would expect.

With the official debut of iOS 16 at WWDC, Apple also revealed the devices eligible for the OS upgrade, with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus surprisingly missing out. That, of course, means Apple and Samsung now have parity of sorts in software update policies.

The creation of a consortium of rival companies that would ensure ARM's neutrality seems to be favored by an increasing number of important industry players. A few months ago, SK Hynix was among the first proponents for such a consortium, but now Qualcomm is also suggesting a similar course of action. Intel is also open to joining the consortium.

Asus has now officially confirmed the launch date of its next-generation gaming phone, the Asus ROG Phone 6. The ROG Phone 6 will make its debut on July 5 and will likely be powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

Banana Pi has unveiled the BPI-CM4, a blatant imitation of the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4). Not only does the BPI-CM4 feature the CM4's design, it also shares its connection pins. Banana Pi hopes to offer the BPI-CM4 in 2 GB and 4 GB RAM configurations that will also have 16 GB to 128 GB of eMMC flash storage.

Xiaomi has now officially taken the wraps off the Redmi Note 11T Pro in China. The mid-range phone debuts in the pursuit of performance thanks to a MediaTek Dimensity 8100, LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage. Camera hardware suffers as a result, however.

Prolific leaker Ice Universe has stated that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is way more energy efficient than its predecessors, including the recently launched Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. MediaTek is demonstrating its Wi-Fi 7 platform comprised of the Filogic 380 and Filogic 880 chipsets at Computex 2022. The Filogic 380 is a client Wi-Fi 7 chip that supports up to 5 Gbps speeds per channel, 4096-QAM, 320 MHz channel, and other Wi-Fi 7 technologies. The Filogic 880 is a Wi-Fi 7 access point solution with its own quad-core Cortex-A73 CPU and dedicated NPU that can scale up to 36 Gbps throughput.

Xiaomi has now officially announced its partnership with German camera giants, Leica, on an upcoming smartphone. While the smartphone isn't named, it's almost definitely the Xiaomi 12 Ultra and has now also been confirmed to debut in July.

After Asus announced that the ROG Phone 6 would land with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, it appears the gaming phone's rumor mill may have picked up speed, with images of a supposed prototype now appearing in the wild.

The Xiaomi 12T Pro will succeed last year's 11T Pro later in the year and will be one of Xiaomi's few Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1-powered devices this year, and could be the only one to be sold outside China. According the other reports, launch is imminent as well.

Qualcomm has officially launched the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform — an incremental upgrade over the 8 Gen 1 targeted at premium Android smartphone experiences. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 comes with increased CPU and GPU performance along with improvements to power efficiency. Qualcomm's reference numbers show good gains over the 8 Gen 1 and comparable performance to a reference MediaTek Dimensity 9000.
