CES 2023 | MediaTek Genio 700 unveiled as new IoT platform with dual display and USB 3.2 Gen1 support
MediaTek has come to CES 2023 to demo its Wi-Fi 7 line of business and how it is about to take off in earnest this year. However, there is also space for its latest IoT chip as well. The new Genio 700 slots in just below its series' current 1200 flagship, yet shows just how far processing solutions for this form of computing has come already.
2 of its cores are the same ARM Cortex-A78s still found in application processors for full mobile devices, albeit ones clocked at 2.2GHz each. They are joined by 6 2.GHz Cortex-A55s, rated to confer 4.0 TOPs of AI power on the new Genio 700.
MediaTek touts all this as capable of running "FHD60+4K60" displays, with support for H.265 and H.264 decoding and even the AV1 codec to boot.
The Genio 700 is also rated to withstand temperature exposure within a "wide" range over up to 10 years of operation using the PCIe 2.0 or USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface, as well as the option of MIPI-CSI for cameras.
The platform has also attained the ARM PSA and SystemReady certifications for potential peace of mind concerning security and ease of integration respectively. On that note, it can use either Yocto Linux, Ubuntu or Android using its SDK for streamlined development as well.
MediaTek projects that the Genio 700 will be available from the second quarter of 2023 (2Q2023) at present.
