Sony's Mark Cerny spoke in detail about the PlayStation 5's GPU, which is a custom designed AMD RDNA 2 chip. The PS5's GPU has a lower CU count than the Xbox Series X but has higher clocks and boosts differently compared to PCs and the Xbox. Sony intended to drive home the point that TFLOPs alone do not account for all the factors that collectively impact GPU performance.

Sony offered details into how the boost clocks of the Zen 2 CPU and RDNA 2 GPU in the PS5's SoC are regulated. Sony's approach of using a constant power but varying frequency should allow all PS5 units to process data in the same manner irrespective of ambient temperature. It also allows the GPU to boost way higher than anything that is available from AMD in the PC space.

Sony has finally taken the wraps off the PlayStation 5's much anticipated specs. PS5 Chief Architect Mark Cerny, in a pre-recorded webcast, talked in detail about the various hardware choices in the console and how they affect gaming. On paper, the Xbox Series X looks to have the edge in this generation, but it is too early to conclude anything before testing out some real games.

It looks like Microsoft is already planning to add the newly launched Ryzen 4000 APUs to the Surface lineup, and this time around, we could potentially see 15-inch as well as 13.5-inch all-AMD models. The 13.5-inch models may get Ryzen 5 4500U / 7 4700U + RX 5300M configurations, while the 15-inch variants may end up powered by more powerful Ryzen R5 4600U / 7 4800U + RX 5500M/ RX 5600M combos.

Following the heels of Microsoft fully unveiling the Xbox Series X, Sony is all set to reveal the PlayStation 5's internals via live streaming today. Leaked specs so far show a very tight competition in terms of specs between the two consoles, and it will be interesting to see how well the PlayStation 5 can match or exceed the standards set by the Xbox Series X.

The GHF51 from DFI is a new single-board computer powered by a Ryzen Embedded R1000 APU. Boasting a 12 Watt TDP and integrated Vega graphics, the GHF51 will likely be scores more powerful than the similarly-sized Raspberry Pi. All that power will likely come at a cost, though.

There are indications that Asus may incorporate Zen 2-based APUs besides the Ryzen 7 4800HS in the new ROG Zephyrus G14 notebook. They include the 9 4900HS-based variant, which has been listed by a Danish e-tailer - as has the also-rumored 5 4600HS SKU. This site also now claims to have pre-sales pages for new TUF Gaming- and ROG Strix-series laptops.

The Geekbench 4 and 5 results for an AMD Ryzen 5 4600H APU in an Asus TUF Gaming laptop have been shared online, and they help demonstrate the performance improvements brought by the Zen 2 microarchitecture. In Geekbench 5, the Renoir chip scored 1,116 points (single core) and 6,337 points (multi core), putting it ahead of the older Ryzen 7 3750H and i7-8850H.

There is no doubting that the Xbox Series X is going to be a beast. But in addition to its raw processing power, the system architecture is also designed to be both fast and flexible. AMD has added the Ryzen 9 4900H and Ryzen 9 4900HS to its list of Ryzen 4000 APUs. A new laptop from Dell’s G Series has been revealed, and it is packed with the latest technology from AMD. The Dell G5 SE (Special Edition) will bring a high-performance Ryzen 4000 H-series processor in combination with the RDNA-based AMD Radeon RX 5600M mobile graphics card with it. The Dell G5 SE should be available in the second quarter of 2020.

Asus believes the ROG Zephyrus G14 will be the most powerful 14-inch gaming laptop in the world thanks to the help of its AMD Ryzen 4000 HS-series processor. The Taiwanese manufacturer has stuffed the computer full of high-end gaming-friendly components topped off with a Pantone-validated display that offers a 120 Hz refresh rate for the FHD variant.

AMD detailed some of the enhancements built into the new Ryzen 4000 APUs that potentially lead to better battery life compared to Intel Ice Lake-powered laptops. AMD focuses on improvements to the system management controller and how it plays well and gathers telemetry from other system components to ensure quick ramp-ups and ramp-downs, longer idle times, and lesser transition between intermediate power states.

An AMD Ryzen 9 4900H APU with Radeon Graphics has been spotted alongside an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 performing well on the Ashes of the Singularity benchmark. The frame-rate measurements were high, with an average of all the batches recorded at 75.5 fps. The Renoir APU is listed as having 8 cores and 16 threads to call upon.

It has been reported that new laptops featuring one of Nvidia’s SUPER mobile GPUs and an Intel 10th Gen CPU will be made available in April. A whole range of SUPER mobile graphics cards, from the GeForce GTX 1650 all the way up to the RTX 2080, is expected to be announced. The Nvidia SUPER desktop counterparts have been popular with gamers.

Leaked Time Spy CPU scores for AMD's upcoming Ryzen 7 4800U show massive gains over both the older Ryzen 7 3780U and Intel's yet-to-be-released Tiger Lake U lineup.

A Time Spy Graphics Score for a Ryzen 7 4800HS APU has shown just how much AMD has managed to improve the iGPU performance for the Renoir generation of processors. The new Ryzen 4000 mobile chip managed to score 1,089 points, which placed it ahead of Picasso APUs like the Ryzen 7 3780U and Ryzen 7 3700U even though they have more compute units (CUs).

A hexa-core AMD Ryzen 5 4500U APU has managed to achieve a higher score on Geekbench 4’s multi-core test than the quad-core Ice Lake Intel Core i7-1065G7. Although the latter Intel SoC is streets ahead of the Ryzen 4000 processor with its single-core score, its multi-core result of 18,772 points is not quite enough to fend off the Ryzen 5 4500U on 18,819 points.

A possible AMD Ryzen 4000 Renoir desktop APU has been spotted on the 3DMark 11 benchmark. The processor, which was in a system that utilized a yet to be released Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro motherboard, managed an overall score of 5,659 points. This left it lagging behind laptop APUs such as the Ryzen 7 4700U and the Ryzen 7 4800U.

A number of Asus TUF Gaming laptops and Asus ROG devices powered by Renoir chips from AMD's Ryzen 4000 series have been spotted on Newegg Canada and the Canadian retailer Memory Express. Although the listings have all been removed now, it seems these Ryzen 4000 laptops will be released within a few days and are priced from CAD$899 up to CAD$2,499.

Those who have to deal with great numbers of notebooks on a regular basis quickly discover that manufacturers ofttimes allow the built-in CPUs to throttle down under load, in some cases, severely so. With the MateBook D 15, Huawei proves that this does not always have to be the case.

While AMD is yet to announce the Ryzen 9 4900H, more evidence of its existence has appeared online. Sporting a 45 W TDP, 8 cores and a 4.4 GHz boost clock, the Ryzen 9 4900H should have enough reserves to challenge whatever Intel and its Comet Lake-H series has to offer. Its Radeon RX Vega 8 integrated GPU may even challenge dedicated GPUs, too, thanks to its 8 compute units (CU) and its 1,750 MHz boost clock.

At least three Asus laptops have been listed on the Amazon China website revealing that AMD Ryzen 4000 laptops are finally arriving. The 17.3-inch Asus TUF FA706IU Gaming laptop features the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H APU while both the 14-inch ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401II and 14-inch ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401IU laptops come with AMD’s Ryzen 7 4800HS.

An AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS processor has been spotted being tested on the 3DMark 11 benchmark. The APU, which was recently leaked by a retailer listing for an Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 laptop, manages reasonably healthy physics scores ranging from 13,735 points to 14,590 points. However, this puts the Ryzen 9 4900HS behind its fellow Renoir chip, the Ryzen 7 4800H.

Leaked benchmarks indicate the business-focused AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 4650U as having an edge over the Ryzen 5 4500U SKU in 3DMark Time Spy. AMD has been comparing the Ryzen 4000 U-series to Intel Ice Lake-U and a leaked Cinebench R15 score shows the Ryzen 5 4500U as having a significant lead in the test.

AMD held their 2020 Financial Analyst Day recently, with one of the highlights being their greatly improved financial situation compared to 2016, and impressively improved debt situation compared to all of the last few years.

Leaked 3DMark FireStrike scores indicate that the Ryzen 5 4650U delivers 80 percent better GPU performance than the Comet Lake 10710U, also beating out Intel’s Ice Lake i7-10657.

A PCMark 10 battery life test result of an AMD Ryzen 7 4800U-powered laptop has leaked online. Although specific details about the laptop itself are not available, the test seems to indicate a runtime of 13 hours 52 minutes on a 70 Wh battery. This is a very good runtime and probably higher than most Intel-powered counterparts. The result is also not too far away from what a typical Snapdragon 8cx-powered WoA laptop would score.

The existence of the Ryzen 9 4900H APUs was first rumored back in late 2019, but now we have actual proof that the model is no mere typo, as Videocardz sources spotted a TUF Gaming laptop powered by the unannounced processor. The 45 W APU will be able to boost to 4.2 GHz, which is 200 MHz slower than the 35 W Ryzen 9 4900HS leaked earlier by Asus. Moreover, the TUF Gaming laptop appears to be missing a discrete GPU.

A Lenovo system featuring an AMD Ryzen 7 4800U APU has been tested on Geekbench 5 recently, and it managed scores of 1,150 points for the single-core test and 7,047 points for the multi-core test. The 8-core Renoir processor achieved similar results to the Coffee Lake Intel Core i9-9880H processor, even though the latter could rely on a higher TDP.

The AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U processor has shown up in a snippet of information taken from 3DMark. It appears the new PRO APU will fill a niche that is already occupied by chips such as the Ryzen 5 4600U and the higher-powered Ryzen 5 4600H. The Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U will be aimed at enterprise solutions, such as the upcoming Lenovo ThinkPad L14 and L15 laptops.

An AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U APU has been discovered on 3DMark. The reported base clock rate for the processor is 1,700 MHz while the maximum turbo clock rate is listed as 4,201 MHz. Unsurprisingly, these clocks would fit the Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U snugly between the Renoir APUs Ryzen 7 4700U and Ryzen 7 4800U. Lenovo will soon be releasing new ThinkPads with Ryzen PRO 4000 chips.

A Cinebench R15 run of the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H has leaked online and the score seems to give not only the Intel Core i7-9750H but also the Core i9-9980HK a run for its money. Also being leaked are purported Vega 7 performance numbers in League of Legends against the 18W and 25W variants of the NVIDIA GeForce MX250.

Doom Eternal is clearly designed for PC systems, first and foremost. The 2016 Doom game was already well optimized, but the new idTech 7 engine takes optimization to new levels as the game now scales with existing high-end and even unreleased hardware to deliver 1,000 fps of superfluid gameplay. While current gen console will be capped at 60 fps most likely, the developers hint at some impressive features for the next gen models.

John Prendergast calculated that the CPU part of the APU integrated in the next gen consoles may not be too impressive, because the TDPs need to be kept under 200 W. Thus, we are looking at performance levels in line with an older Ryzen 5 1600 model with a 40 W TDP. The GPU parts will get TDPs in excess of 100 W, on the other hand.

AMD’s Ryzen 7 4800HS mobile SoC has been spotted on another benchmark, in this case 3DMark’s Fire Strike Extreme. The Renoir APU’s results were compared with those of the high-end Comet Lake Intel Core i7-10750H and the Ryzen 5 4600H. Although the Intel part offered the highest 3DMark score and graphics score, the Ryzen 7 4800HS’s physics score was way beyond the chosen rivals.

Once again AMD has enjoyed healthy sales in regard to information taken from sales data from Mindfactory. Leading the charge for Team Red is the Ryzen 5 3600 and Ryzen 7 3700X, followed by seven more processors from AMD. However, overall share of CPU sales shifted slightly in Intel’s favor, although AMD still commands 84.36%.

AMD’s Ryzen 7 4800H has been spotted being tested on Geekbench again, with some new scores being recorded on version 5 of the well-known benchmark. The Ryzen 4000 series APU scored surprisingly well in the single-core test but really excelled in the multi-core test, where it managed to outmuscle Intel rivals such as the Comet Lake i7-10750H and the Coffee Lake i9-9980HK.

When the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 was announced this week, people were astounded that the Intel version of this ThinkPad laptop was said to feature RJ45 Ethernet and upgradable RAM, while the datasheet of the AMD version featured neither. We asked Lenovo if this was true - and it turns out that the spec-sheet released by Lenovo was wrong.

Radeon or Radeon? The devices of the Acer Swift-3-SF314-41 (G) series are powered by Ryzen APUs from AMD. Models with or without a dedicated GPU are available within the series. We want to check whether it is worth buying a model with a dedicated Radeon 540X graphics core.

The Zen 2 AMD Ryzen 7 4800H has been spotted on Geekbench achieving scores that make it very well matched with Intel’s Comet Lake processors Core i9-10980HK and Core i7-10750H. Unsurprisingly, the 6-core i7-10750H falls behind the 8-core counterparts in the multi-core test, but the i9-10980HK has the edge on the Ryzen 7 4800H for the time being.

AMD has consistently beaten Intel in cost-per-core, but did AMD really need to pursue a chiplet design to make Zen 2 so affordable? New slides from a recent talk at ISSCC show exactly how much the company saved with this approach, and the results are very impressive.

Is Microsoft trying to prove that sounds exhibit the same wave-particle duality as light rays? Probably not. This is most likely a clever marketing gimmick that feeds off of the growing popularity of ray traced graphics and mainstream gamers are not even supposed to benefit from it.

The dual-core / dual-thread R1102G and dual-core / quad-thread R1305G CPU models are 14 nm chips based on the original Zen architecture featuring the lowest TDPs in AMD's Ryzen Embedded roster. These will be featured in Simply NUC's new Red Oak and Post Oak mini PC systems along with Sapphire's latest NUC motherboards.

3DMark 11 scores were recently leaked for the Ryzen 7 4700U. The 15W mobile part posted 5446 on the graphics test, substantially higher than Nvidia's discrete GeForce MX250. It also posted a physics score on par with a desktop system equipped with the 65W i7-6700.
