AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U joins Renoir's ranks and will likely feature in future Lenovo ThinkPad laptops
AMD appears to be expanding the Ryzen 4000 series with a few PRO chips. We have already reported on the Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U processor that could end up being part of the configuration options for the three T-series ThinkPads that should be released in Q2 2020. Now, Tum Apisak has found another Ryzen PRO 4000 chip on 3DMark in the form of the AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U.
This apparent new entrant to the formidable Renoir series has reported clocks of 2,100 MHz to 3,991 MHz, putting it on par with the current Ryzen 5 4600U (the Ryzen 5 4600H has a much higher base clock of 3.0 GHz). The AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U seems to have six available cores and can utilize 12 threads. It also features integrated Radeon Graphics and will likely only differ from the non-PRO Ryzen 5 4600U with its included specialist enterprise solutions that AMD applies to the PRO series.
It’s not shown in the 3DMark screenshot which OEM could be interested in the AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U, but it would not be surprising if it was Lenovo weighing up the APU for potential use in upcoming enterprise laptops such as the ThinkPad L14 and ThinkPad L15.
