Lenovo ThinkPad T14, T14s & T15 with AMD Ryzen Pro 4000 (and Intel Comet Lake) announced
The year 2020 brings a fresh start for the ThinkPad line, at least in terms of naming: Lenovo drops the 12 year old naming scheme that was introduced with the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 in favor of a simplified system. Accordingly, last years Lenovo ThinkPad T490, ThinkPad T490s and ThinkPad T590 are getting replaced by the new ThinkPad T14, ThinkPad T14s and ThinkPad T15.
But the three news models do not just succeed the Intel-powered ThinkPads. T14 and T14s are the sucessors to the ThinkPad T495 and ThinkPad T495s as well, as Lenovo gives up on the separation of the T series into AMD-based and Intel-based models. All three ThinkPads will feature the Intel 10th Gen Core i CPUs with vPro (Comet Lake). The bigger 15,6 inch model ThinkPad T15 stays an Intel exclusive, while the two smaller 14 inch T series ThinkPads will be available with the new AMD Ryzen Pro 4000 CPUs, too.
Apart from the naming and new AMD Ryzen CPUs, the three business systems are rather conservative updates, since the design does not change compared with the preceding ThinkPad laptops. New is the support of the modern, connected standby. Also, Wi-Fi 6 becomes standard on the T series. When configured with an Intel processor, the new ThinkPad T series laptops are optionally available with an 4K UHD screen with Dolby Vision HDR.
The three new T series ThinkPads will be available in the second quarter of 2020. The ThinkPad T14 is the most affordable with a starting price of $849. The ThinkPad T14s will cost at least $1,029, while the bigger ThinkPad T15 has a starting price of $1,079.
