Lenovo ThinkPad L14 & L15: New budget enterprise ThinkPad laptops with AMD Ryzen Pro 4000
The Lenovo ThinkPad L series is often overlooked. No big wonder: The affordable budget models are dependable machines, but not nearly as sophisticated as the more expensive T series. And the ThinkPad E series is even more affordable and offers more GPU performance and more fashionable chassis-material choices like Aluminum lids. This lack of attractiveness of the ThinkPad L series is no coincidence though, as it purely targets enterprise, government and education users. That is why it offers the same business options (LTE, mechanical docking, Smartcard reader) as the more expensive T series, just in a thicker, less expensive plastic package.
The 2020 ThinkPad L series adopts the same new naming scheme as the new T & X series. Last years Lenovo ThinkPad L490 is replaced by the ThinkPad L14 and the bigger ThinkPad L590 makes way for the ThinkPad L15. As with all 2020 ThinkPads, the new models include Intel Comet Lake processors with vPro. However, for the first time in the history of the ThinkPad L series, ThinkPad L14 and L15 will also feature AMD CPUs in the form of the new AMD Ryzen Pro 4000 line of processors.
That is not the only thing new about these devices: Both are thinner and lighter redesigns compared to their predecessors. They also include Wi-Fi 6 as well as optionally available, brighter On-Cell-Touch displays.
ThinkPad L14 and ThinkPad L15 will be available in the second quarter of 2020. Both have a starting price of $649.
