Desktop ARM processors from AMD soon? (Image Source: Boot Sequence on Youtube)

AMD ready to diversify its portfolio with ARM-based chips

Some AMD customers are asking for ARM-based processors, and AMD is willing to fulfill this demand. Moreover, AMD seems to be open to explore other architectures like RISC-V, as well. It is not yet clear what markets would benefit from the increased ARM demand, but, seeing that AMD is already planning to use Xilinx tech for its datacenter products, we could infer that ARM may be destined for Team Red’s desktop and laptop product stacks.

Intel's Alder Lake product stack to include 35 W T-series desktop processors ideal for fanless mini PCs

The T-series returns with models that appear to have the same core count as their S-series K counterparts, but the TDP is limited to 35 W, so the core clocks are slightly lower and the overclocking capabilities are gone.

New Intel Alder Lake US price leak might force a Zen 3 pricing rethink as the Core i9-12900K comes in at US$605

A new price leak for Intel’s Alder Lake chips has emerged, with the data coming from a US retailer. The overall prices appear to be less expensive than those that featured in a previous leak, with the Intel Core i9-12900K priced at around US$605. The prices listed would make the 12th Gen Alder Lake chips more competitive against AMD’s Zen 3 offerings.

Specs above DDR5-4800 appear to add significant memory latency, making them unsuitable for gaming.

Leaked DDR5-6400 RAM test on Intel's upcoming Alder Lake platform shows that faster DDR5 specs are not really suitable for gaming

Intel's DDR5 implementation could be one of those cases where first to market does not necessarily translate to a huge advantage. The upcoming Alder Lake platform supports DDR5-4800 RAM natively, but everything beyond those specs seem to prove detrimental for gamers. A leaked test for the Alder Lake i5-12600K coupled with DDR5-6400 RAM shows how the new Gear 4 memory mode almost doubles the latency compared to that of a DDR4-2933 kit.

Unfortunately no gaming tests, but we are still getting a first look at more relevant benchmarks like video encoding, CPU rendering in Blender and PC Mark. Of course, Alder Lake is dominating in the single core Cinebench R23 test, but beyond that, performance is either on par or slightly lower compared to the competition. It all might come down to pricing, as Intel's models seem to be at least $100 cheaper than the AMD counterparts, and the i5-12600K could indeed emerge as a best buy.
