Now that GPU supplies are slowly climbing and prices begin to drop steadily, some AIB makers like MSI are also refreshing their GPU portfolios. MSI's entire AMD-based Gaming TRIO lineup just got quietly expanded with Z TRIO and TRIO PLUS models that feature slightly higher clock speeds and redesigned backplates.
Videocardz put together a table to better represent differences between the variants, as some specs are not exactly straightforward. Generally speaking, the Z TRIO cards now offer the fastest clocks, while the TRIO PLUS are as fast as the regular TRIO, but slower than the X TRIO (with the exception of the 6900 XT TRIO PLUS model). The fastest card of the lineup is the MSI 6900 XT GAMING Z TRIO with 2245 MHz boost clock, while the 6900 XT GAMING TRIO PLUS is second with 2365 boost clock. Note that the TGP and memory clocks remain unchanged.
Design-wise, the new Z TRIO and TRIO PLUS cards come with backplates that are almost identical to the ones one the 6900 XT X TRIO models. Still, MSI has not made any changes in regards to the cooling systems that appear to cause some overheating problems to previous X TRIO models. Unfortunately the MSRPs are not displayed, since retailers are still not respecting them anyway.
