Unveiled at MWC 2018, the Nokia 7 Plus was expected to arrive in April. However, the launch date of this Qualcomm Snapdragon 660-powered handset has just been confirmed for May 2. One month after the Android Nougat-driven BLU Vivo X got listed on Amazon, the US-based company BLU Products is back with a 5.5-inch handset that runs Android Oreo out of the box. The BLU Vivo XL 3 has a 2:1 ratio display, a single 13 MP camera on the back, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage, and uses a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor. Its price tag reads US$189.99.

Although the Moto E4 has been around since last July and Verizon Wireless has been selling it ever since for just US$69.99, T-Mobile decided to add this 5-inch Android Nougat smartphone to its portfolio now instead of waiting for the Moto E5. However, the full retail price they charge is US$175. Fortunately, T-Mobile customers can also go with a US$7 down payment, followed by 24 monthly payments of US$7 each.

It seems that the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) may have just thwarted any further attempt by Broadcom to succeed in its quest to takeover Qualcomm. CFIUS has sent a letter raising concerns to officials at Qualcomm that has been made public, and the agency has also ordered the American technology company to delay an annual shareholder meeting whilst the proposed US$121 billion deal is thoroughly investigated.

The BlackBerry KEYone Black Edition has been around since last August in various markets, and now it is finally available in the US. While the original came in February 2017 with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage, this version comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. Fortunately, the price tag of this handset reads US$549, which is just US$50 higher than the price of the regular BlackBerry KEYone.

In addition to the new Android-driven phones that were introduced at this year's Mobile World Congress, Alcatel has also launched a low-end tablet that comes in two form factors. The Alcatel 1T 7 and the Alcatel 1T 10 come with Android 8.1 Oreo onboard and can provide a battery file of up to 15 hours on a single charge. This slate will soon be available for purchase starting at 69.99 EUR (around US$86).

The ZTE Tempo Go might look familiar to some, and this happens for a good reason: this Android Go handset is nothing more than a ZTE Tempo X with a new name and Google's highly optimized Android Oreo variant. The specs are exactly what one could expect for the sub-US$80 price tag: Qualcomm Snapdragon 210, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB storage, 5-inch display with 480 x 854 pixels, as well as a 5 MP main camera with LED flash.

Although some recent leaks claimed it would arrive as an Android Go device, the General Mobile GM 8 is now official with full Oreo onboard as an Android One handset. The MediaTek Helio P25-powered BLU Vivo X phablet is finally official. Currently available for purchase on Amazon for US$249.99 (17 percent down from a list price of US$299.99), this 6-inch phablet comes with a quad-camera setup and a 2:1 display. Just as the other handsets by BLU Products, it is fully compatible with the GSM networks of major US carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile, MetroPCS, and others.

Almost a decade since the release of the first Android device, Google is rapidly expanding this ecosystem by adding branches for specific categories of users and devices. After the Android One initiative that aims to provide a stock experience and very fast updates, Android Go comes with low-end handsets in mind. Although a set of Go apps is already available, the first Android Go phones will be revealed next week at MWC.
