Introduced by AMD in late 2020 as one of its releases based on the Zen 3 microarchitecture and made on TSMC's 7 nm FinFET process, the Ryzen 7 5800X has a base frequency of 3.8 GHz and can boost it up to 4.7 GHz. The release price of this now two-year-old processor was US$449 and Amazon's previous list price value read the same figure. Thankfully, a 43 percent discount is now attached to this still capable 8-core, 16-thread desktop processor.
The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X comes unlocked and features 36 MB of cache, alongside support for up to 128 GB DDR4-3200 memory. This processor supports PCIe 4.0 on X570- and B550-based motherboards. With a standard TDP of 105 W that can (and will) go higher when overclocked, the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X does not come with a bundled cooler like many of its siblings, so the use of a high-performance cooling solution is recommended.
The 43 percent discount mentioned earlier takes the price of the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X down to exactly US$248, and another monetary advantage that comes with it is that the AM4 socket has been around since 2016 and finding discounted motherboards to accommodate the processor is quite easy.
