NVIDIA GeForce RTX video card render, RTX 3050 to feature GA107 GPU with 2,304 cores

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 rumor: 90 W TGP Ampere GA107 GPU with 2,304 cores

Expected by many gamers to perform as good as the RTX 2060 with less power required — and less heat generated, of course — the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 is now rumored to use the GA107-300 graphics chip with 2,304 cores and a TGP value of just 90 Watt. Sadly, it is only expected to arrive in January 2021 and NVIDIA has not confirmed it yet.

Apple's new M1-powered Macs all look exactly the same as the Intel models they replace. (Image: Apple)

Apple M1 Macs don't support eGPUs, while the new MacBook Air is offered with a less powerful 7-core GPU M1 variant

Apple’s transition to its own silicon offers exciting possibilities for the future of energy efficient, high performance computing. However, the transition won’t be without its hiccups and a lack of eGPU support moving forward looks like a relatively substantial one. The company is also following a similar path with the M1 chip as it did with the A12X and A12Z chips when it comes to the new MacBook Air.

The Ryzen 5000 series "struggles" against Comet Lake in UserBenchmark's charts. (Image source: AMD/Intel - edited)

Final nail in the coffin: Bar-raising AMD Ryzen 9 5950X somehow lags behind four Intel parts including the Core i9-10900K in average bench on UserBenchmark despite higher 1-core and 4-core scores

The AMD Ryzen 9 5950X has been impressing many with its various appearances on synthetic benchmarks. However, it is the Intel Core i9-10900K that tops the average bench charts over at UserBenchmark, while the powerful Zen 3 Vermeer CPU has to languish behind in fifth position, regardless of higher core scores across the board. Is this the final nail in the coffin for the controversial benchmark?

Windows 10 users with select Samsung phones can now use an expanded form of Microsoft's Your Phone

The Your Phone facility in Windows 10 is Microsoft's answer to syncing an iPhone with a macOS device. However, it has been rather restrictive in that it only allows 1 Android app open on a given phone to be mirrored on a PC's screen at any one time. A new version now gradually rolling out from the Insider Preview addresses this issue, although there are caveats to the new solution.
