JLab Audio launches the Talk series of USB microphones for streaming or recording
JLab is a company that usually releases products more like earphones. However, its latest release is a new line of microphones that connect with USB type A to type C. The OEM has divided its "high-quality" specs across the 3 models that make up this new Talk series, and pitches them at different, if increasingly relevant, use-cases.
They include making calls and podcasting in the Talk GO, through game-streaming in the vanilla Talk to "professional level" voice recordings in the Talk Pro. Accordingly, they all have different form-factors, although they share the same 5.8-inch mount, 3.5mm jack and 24-bit rate.
However, the Talk GO has a 5-foot cable, whereas the Talk has one of 6.5 feet in length and the Pro gets one of 10 feet, which are braided as with its siblings.
The Talk and Pro variant also has cardioid, stereo, omni- and bi-directional sound pick-up options, whereas the Talk GO has cardioid and omni only. The latter is also a dual-condenser mic, whereas the Talk and Pro have 3 each.
The JLab Talk series is compatible with PCs and Macs and come with a tripod apiece. They are available via Amazon and Best Buy from now, and start at US$49.99 for the GO (although this is discounted to $39.99 on Best Buy at present) to $149.99 for the Talk Pro.
