JLab Audio announces a new Epic Air series of hybrid ANC TWS earbuds
JLab Audio, a leading sound accessories brand, has launched its latest TWS earbuds in 2 flavors: IP55-rated stemmed buds with physical controls, or "popcorn"-shaped with earhooks and IP66 ingress protection for workouts or exercise. However, both of these new Epic Air versions have a "hybrid" form of ANC apparently developed for advanced comfort while using this mode.
It involves 3 MEMS microphones per earbud in both variants, rated for 40±3 decibels (dB) each. JLab Audio also claims to have developed a Be Aware mode for them, along the same lines as Apple's Transparency mode. The Epic Air ANCs and Sport ANCs also have a Movie Mode, which might reduce audio latency to a minimum for content such as dialogue.
Both sets of these new TWS earbuds have 8 millimeter (mm) "dynamic" neodymium magnetic drivers with a , 20-20,000Hz range and an impedance of 32 ohms (Ω) ± 15%. They also come equipped with a charging case that supports wireless charging and also through their all-in-one cable. This is refreshing in its originality, even if the connector is USB type A.
These rather unique cases confer approximately 36 hours of extra playback on the Epic Air ANCs, or up to 55 hours on the Sport ANCs. Therefore, JLab estimates that they can last for 48 or 70 hours in total respectively.
Currently, they are available with the UK retailer John Lewis for £69.99 (~US$95) each, or with Best Buy for just $49.99 each (as opposed to their normal $100 price) for the 2020 holidays.
