An increasing number of conventional hearing aids from household brands in this market do now integrate Bluetooth so that the user can stream music from their phones or take calls as with any pair of wireless audio products. However, Olive Union offers an alternative: wireless earbuds with tech for the hearing-impaired included. It is now on the second generation of these products, which has been launched via Indiegogo.
These Olive Pros are rated for true-wireless stereo (TWS) through Bluetooth 5.1, but also for advanced noise-filtering that might help a user with compromised hearing to pick up and focus on human voices with greater ease. Then again, they can also switch to content-consumption if listening to people is not required.
Their maker claims that the Olive Pros are "150% louder and clearer" compared to their first generation, with a maximum gain improvement of 43% and 3 times more audio channels. They can also apparently address "moderate to severe hearing loss", whereas the original Olves were rated for moderate loss at best.
Then again, the company claims that this new variety of TWS earbud can be unboxed and set up in 5 minutes, whereas connected hearing-aid brands typically recommend a consultation with an audiologist before doing so.
The Olive Pros currently start for US$199 on their campaign page, although the OEM has indicated that this price might increase following their Black Friday event. This ends in about 2 days from now (November 27, 2020).
