EssilorLuxottica's Nuance Audio subsidiary touts its Hearing Glasses as the best new wearable for those who might find they have more and more difficulty following a conversion than usual over time, but who would prefer not to wear an in-ear hearing aid.
The OEM asserts that its take on open-ear audio is enhanced with the beam-forming technology necessary to help the user focus and comprehend the sounds they need to hear while excluding background noise.
The Hearing Glasses' "listening experience" can be further customized in the Nuance Audio app. The wearables are also rated to process sound with "exceptionally low latency", although there is little information on the actual specs involved.
Nuance Audio also notes that they can be fitted with prescription lenses, although they come with Transitions GenS lenses by default.
Accordingly, these smart glasses could almost be seen as the polar opposite of products such as the new loomos glasses that are available on Kickstarter - or even Razer's Anzu glasses that can now be ordered on Amazon.
The Hearing Glasses have even secured FDA approval for use by those with mild to moderate hearing impairments, having earlier achieved CE certification for the same.
Accordingly, Nuance Audio now plans to start marketing them in European countries such as France and Germany as well as in the US as a form of medical device by mid-2025.
