loomos has teased its upcoming first-gen smart glasses as a cross between the Meta Ray-Bans and a Shargeek 140 power bank - which, as its brand is a new spin-off of the company Sharge, is not all that surprising.
Their initial starting price might be more of a surprise, and a potentially pleasant one for those used to seeing the Meta alternative start at prices such as $290.90 (at the time of writing) on Amazon. Sharge has announced that its new product will start at $199.99 instead - with a caveat.
That price will apply to the first 2,000 units of the loomos glasses ordered via Kickstarter, rising to $209 for the next 4,000 units and $219 for the next 4,000 after that. They may be available at their planned RRP of $299 thereafter.
Alternatively, the glasses can be bundled with a new Sharge-branded power bank, designed in the shape of a neckband to extend the loomos' battery with a rated capacity of 6,500mAh.
The glasses are touted as "all-day" AI wearables even without their matching accessory - although Sharge has also just revealed that their up-to-4K recordings last only 5 minutes at most.
loomos is also now described as having 2GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC internal storage, capable of connecting to a smartphone with Bluetooth 5.0 and having IP5X and IPX4 ratings for water and dust resistance respectively.
Then again, they can also be fitted with prescription lenses and have a dedicated Unisoc quad-core processor for its GPT 4o-based AI assistant. The loomos smart glasses' crowdfunding page will be live from January 28, 2025 at 10:00 EST (16:00 CET).
