The OEM Nubia makes a line of flagship Android gaming phones called RedMagic with a very distinctive esthetic. Now, its latest TWS earbuds follows this trend, even down to the RGB lighting. Its predecessors, the Nubia Pods, are available on the brand's global website, although the CyberPods are a considerable departure from these more or less generic buds.
Instead, the newer models have AirPod-like stems, yet don't really look like anything else on the market from smartphone OEMs at present. They also come with a charging case that, with its angular appearance, is also a breath of fresh air in the category; then again, this aspect of the buds might render them less portable than others.
There is no active noise cancelling here, although the CyberPods do feature ear-hooks and gels that might enhance the seal in the ear. These TWS buds also offer latency of as little as 39 milliseconds (ms) - although this only takes effect when paired to a RedMagic phone. Otherwise, this spec increases to 60ms. The CyberPods will be released worldwide on December 5, 2020.
The latest RedMagic 5S, a phone with the highest refresh rate known to phones in 2020 (144Hz), will also arrive on the European market in a new colorway, Eclipse Black, on November 20, 2020. It will be priced at €579 for a single 8GB RAM/128GB storage SKU, while the CyberPods will go for US$50, €50 or £50.
