Today was not just about smartphones for OnePlus, as it also announced the Buds Z, its latest pair of TWS earbuds. A cheaper alternative to the OnePlus Buds, OnePlus claims that the Buds Z deliver on the basics without costing a fortune. The Buds Z will cost US$49.99, which is much cheaper than the US$79 OnePlus Buds.
OnePlus has equipped the Buds Z with a relatively simple set of silicone earpieces, of which it includes three sizes in the box. The earbuds support Bluetooth 5.0 and can be instantly connected to selected smartphones like the OnePlus 8 Pro. Bluetooth 5.0 should keep audio latency to 103 ms, according to OnePlus. The company rates the earbuds for a wireless range of up to 10 metres, too.
Additionally, the earbuds have a touch-sensitive surface for controlling audio playback and answering calls. The earbuds can also launch Google Assistant on request, should that be your digital assistant of choice. The Buds Z have 10 mm drivers too, which OnePlus states are sensitive to 97 dB (± 3dB) at 1 KHz.
The OnePlus Buds Z should last up five hours between charges when playing music and three hours of talk time. However, the charging case should fully charge the earbuds three times, yielding an effective battery life of twenty hours. Ten minutes of recharging the case should give up to three hours of battery life for the earbuds, but the case does not support wireless charging.
The IP55 certified earbuds will be available to order from November 2. Amazon will also sell the Buds Z, but you can register to purchase them from OnePlus now.
