RedMagic is a gaming-phone brand that gears up with high-refresh-rate displays and active cooling to take on rivals such as the ROG Phone and Xiaomi's Black Sharks year in, year out. Its owner Nubia has just all but confirmed that it will be doing so with yet another gaming-monitor-challenging spec in 2021: 165Hz, this time.
The OEM has also hinted that the RedMagic 6 series will feature a 400Hz touch-sampling rate, which, again, will be among the best in the gaming phone business. Interestingly, Nubia did not distinguish between the upcoming 6 and its inaugural Pro variant in its teasers, suggesting that the new evolution in specs is coming to both.
In other RedMagic news, the FCC has registered its first-ever smartwatch recently. Nubia has also affirmed that it will debut alongside the 6 and 6 Pro on March 4, 2021 (a date that just happens to precede the ROG Phone 5's own launch). Despite the surprisingly plain looks hinted at in this wearable's leak, it now seems to have attained a red accent for one of its physical buttons, at the least.
The RedMagic Watch is also expected to have an AMOLED display, three-fold GPS and a heart-rate monitor. Nubia also claims that it has a battery life of up to 15 days and will weigh only 30 grams. As for the phones themselves, they are also slated to gain cooling solutions with yet more improvements, which involves a return of their series' spinning fans, set at a faster 20,000rpm this time, not to mention a graphite sheet, a vapor chamber and copper shielding.
