Asus has made the "ROG Phone 5" (and "ROG Phone 5 Tencent Edition") product names official; now, it has also confirmed this series' launch event. It is scheduled for March 10, 2021 at 12:00 CET, and will (presumably) be a virtual show broadcast via its new webpage. Currently, it is set to show a countdown until this date and time.
The page is also accented with an RGB ROG logo done up in a cycling dot-matrix theme. This might be a reference to a new design tweak rumored to have been developed for the 2021 flagship phone series. It consists of a rear-panel-mounted secondary screen that the user might be able to customize or at least set to display certain read-outs.
Its leaks are therefore quite reminiscent of the AniMe lighting effect that debuted in the Ryzen 4000-powered Zephyrus G14 in 2020. According to its TENAA listing, the ROG Phone 5's version is present in 1 of its variants (ASUS_I005DA), suggesting that the other (I005DB) is a less elaborate and, thus, less expensive, option.
Otherwise, the Asus ROG Phone 5 is projected to have 8 to 16 GB of RAM, a 6.78" AMOLED screen and a 6,000 mAh battery. Therefore, combined with its probable Snapdragon 888, it seems primed to knock current performance leaders like the Xiaomi Mi 11 or iQOO 7 aside when it storms onto the Android arena in about 18 days from now.
