Xiaomi Black Shark 4 and Asus ROG Phone 4/ROG Phone 5: ROG Phone 4/5 seems to offer 32% higher capacity for the same thickness, but Black Shark 4 features 120 W fast charging

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC is set to power several flagship Android phones this year and that includes gaming-focused phones such as the Xiaomi Black Shark 4 and the Asus ROG Phone 4/5. Thanks to known leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS), we are now getting to know some specs of these devices apart from, of course, the SoC.

Xiaomi Black Shark 4

The Snapdragon 865-powered Black Shark 3 earned a decent 85% rating in our review. However, it looks like this time we may not see a huge spec upgrade with the Black Shark 4. According to DCS, the Black Shark 4 will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 and will feature a 6.67-inch 2,400 x 1,080 OLED display. The device seems to have been trimmed a little going by the dimensions of 163.83 x 76.35 x 10.3 mm compared to the Black Shark 3's 168.7 x 77.3 x 10.3 mm dimensions.

The Black Shark 4 will have a reduced battery capacity at 4,500 mAh (4,720 mAh in the Black Shark 3), but it now features 120 W fast charging. A render of the device shows that the front-facing camera is now placed towards the top center instead of being pushed to the top right of the display as was the case previously.

Asus ROG Phone 4/ROG Phone 5

The ROG Phone 4/5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC and will feature an AniMe Matrix customizable secondary display apart from the 6.78-inch OLED panel. A 5,960 mAh dual battery with either 60 or 65 W fast charging is on the anvil. The ROG Phone 4/5 may be slightly larger this time around with dimensions of 172.8 x 77 x 10.29 mm.

It is still not clear how Asus would go about naming its upcoming ROG Phone. While it is very much likely that the company would skip directly to the ROG Phone 5 owing to tetraphobia in many Asian countries, it is also possible that the rest of the world will still see a ROG Phone 4.
