RedMagic makes its new 6 mobile-gaming series official worldwide; pre-orders to start in April 2021
Nubia's RedMagic premium Android gaming brand has already introduced its newest 6-series devices, albeit to its native market of China. Now, however, it has done so for the rest of the markets in which it operates, the US and Europe included.
The 6 and 6 Pro will offer the same "e-sports, ultra-smooth" display as it does at home. This panel has what is now the world's fastest mobile refresh rate: 165Hz, which beats even the new Asus ROG Phone 5 series. It will also bring its up-to-500Hz touch-sampling rates and extra shoulder buttons to international shores.
The RedMagic 6 Pro (global version) will also still pack the latest generation of Nubia's ICE cooling system, which incorporates an "Aviation Grade" aluminum heat sink, a vapor chamber, copper foil, thermal gel, a graphite thermal pad and an active fan. However, its new international web-page references up to 66W charging only.
This is a potentially disappointing exclusion, as the 6 Pro has been seen with a faster 120W rate prior to this. Furthermore, RedMagic states that 6 Pro units charge fully in 65 minutes "with the 30W charger", possibly implying that this is the power brick with which they will be shipped outside of China. Finally, there is no mention of the new RedMagic Watch on this launch page.
Nevertheless, Nubia will start to take pre-orders for the RedMagic 6 and 6 Pro on April 9, 2021. It has also hinted at some "early-bird" promotions, possibly also for the same event, for which one can sign up for with an email address on its website.
Its "normal" pricing is slated as US$599, €599 or 509 GBP for the 12GB/128GB RedMagic 6 in Eclipse Black, or US$699, €699 or 599 GBP for the 16GB/256GB 6 Pro in Moon Silver - no wacky pink/purple fades for the wider world, then.
