Nubia confirms international pricing and availability for the new RedMagic 6R
RedMagic has just launched the 6R, which could be said to be a gaming phone for people who don't really like gaming phones. Its specs are nearly as powerful as those of the 2021 6-series flagships; however, they come in a package that could nearly be mistaken for a new Samsung Galaxy A-series device.
Its rear panel eschews the elaborately angular designs of its immediate predecessors for something much more sedate, as well as a fairly common camera hump with 4 lenses in an upside-down L configuration. On the other hand, this casing also packs capacitive shoulder buttons with a 400Hz response-rate and a latency of about 8 milliseconds.
The 6R also has a nearly-top-grade 144Hz refresh rate for its FHD+ AMOLED display. This panel is also SGS-certified for blue light reduction, which might be handy for long screen-use sessions. It also contains a cooling solution that integrates up-to-date buzzwords such as "graphene"; "vapor chamber"; "liquid cooling"; "copper foil" and "thermal gel" for its Snapdragon 888 SoC.
On the other hand, RedMagic has compromized in some areas with the Android 11-based 6R, its aging Gorilla Glass 3 display protection and 30W charging (even though Chinese-market versions of this phone have a 55W power brick instead) included.
Therefore, the value for its US$499 (or €499, or £429, depending on region) starting price (which might be for a 6GB SKU) in this upcoming not-a-gaming-phone gaming phone may be judged by the individual potential buyer. Each one has until June 24, 2021 to decide whether or not to order one in via RedMagic's international site.
