Xiaomi opens international pre-orders for the Black Shark 4
The Black Shark 4 is the vanilla form of Xiaomi's high-end 2021 Android gaming smartphone. Unlike its predecessor, it runs on the sub-flagship Snapdragon 870 processor rather than the full-fat 888 flagship. Then again, it has the vast majority of its Pro sibling's advantages, its 120W fast-charging technology included.
Unlike the competing RedMagic 6 series, this feature is present in the international version of the Black Shark 4. Furthermore, its new sales page actually mentions a power brick in the box with the phone. This package is now available to pre-order from global.blackshark.com.
The Black Shark 4 (Global Edition) is priced at US$499 for a base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, whereas its 12GB RAM top-end SKU goes for $599. This gets the buyer a phone with a 144Hz refresh rate in a 6.67-inch display quite reminiscent of those in the flagship Redmi K40 line-up, tiny central punch-hole and all.
The JoyUI 12.5-based 4 also has triple cameras, magnetic pop-up shoulder buttons and a relatively understated rear panel made of plastic. However, this cost-saving compromise has helped the phone score wins in durability testing, especially compared to its rivals the ROG Phone 5 and Legion Phone Duel 2.
Black Shark has also announced that the first 100 customers to pre-order of its latest international variant will also get a FunCase and a FunCooler clip-on fan as free gifts.
