Xiaomi ribs Apple again for not including a charger in the box with Mi 10T Lite advert
As has been widely reported, Apple has decided against including a charger with the iPhone 12 series. The company has removed the charger from the boxes of older iPhones too, which has drawn criticism from many quarters, including Xiaomi.
According to Apple, protecting the environment lies at the heart of its decision. Removing the charger supposedly allows the company to reduce its carbon footprint in multiple ways, including in the transportation of lighter retail boxes. Apple continues to sell chargers separately of course, and bundles a USB Type-C to Lightning cable with iPhone 12 units, despite having never included a USB Type-C charger with any iPhone.
Xiaomi Spain was the first subsidiary to poke fun at Apple, as we reported last week. Now, the official Xiaomi Twitter account has gone further, highlighting its commitment to reducing plastic usage without needing to remove the charger. The company has switched to cardboard packaging for the Mi 10T Lite, albeit just in Europe, which it claims will reduce plastic usage by 60%. The box still includes a silicone case, along with a USB cable and the other usual accessories that come with Xiaomi smartphones.
The Mi 10T Lite has already gone on sale in the Eurozone, where it is available in multiple colours and configurations. Xiaomi will begin selling the Mi 10T Lite in the UK from October 26.
