Apple iPhone 12 mini: First hands-on video with the smallest iPhone showcases its diminutive stature
Romania's most-popular tech YouTuber seemingly broke ranks yesterday by publishing a hands-on video of the iPhone 12 mini, despite its debut being marked for next week. The lack of other review coverage suggests that the iPhone 12 mini remains under embargo, which explains George Buhnici quickly switched the video to private. Nonetheless, the video has been re-posted, which we have embedded below.
As the video shows, Buhnici showed off a working iPhone 12 mini, not a dummy model. The iPhone 12 mini will be available from November 6 and should begin shipping from November 13, so it is unclear quite how Buhnici obtained a model ahead of those dates if Apple did not sanction it.

Unfortunately, subtitles do not accompany the video, but it does offer a comparison of the size of the iPhone 12 mini against other recent iPhones, such as the iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 Pro Max from the previous year, the largest iPhone to date, which will be replaced in November by the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. For context, the iPhone 12 mini measures 131.5 x 64.2 x 7.4 mm, making it significantly shorter and narrower than the iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 Pro Max; these two come in at 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.4 mm and 158 x 77.8 x 8.1 mm, respectively.
The iPhone 12 mini still packs most of the features of its iPhone 12 siblings, despite its size. Apple has equipped the device with dual rear-facing cameras, 4 GB of RAM, its new A14 Bionic chipset and up to 256 GB of storage. The iPhone 12 mini only has a 2,227 mAh battery though, so it will be interesting to see how that shapes up when we put it through its paces.
