Leaked AirPods Pro 2 purport new price and release of Apple's premium TWS earbuds
It has been over a year since Apple released the AirPods Pro, the 'Pro' version of the AirPods that the company originally released in 2016. However, there may be a bit of a wait before Apple releases its next pair of 'Pro' TWS earbuds. According to LeaksApplePro, we should expect the tentatively-called AirPods Pro Gen 2 in either Q4 2021 or Q1 2022. So, it may be October 2021 or as late as March 2022 before Apple releases a second-generation of the AirPods Pro.
The price, on the other hand, is supposed to remain at US$249, which Apple continues to charge for the AirPods Pro. LeaksApplePro claims that the AirPods Pro 2 will be like the AirPods Gen 2 were to the AirPods Gen 1 - a rather underwhelming upgrade, then.
Apparently, the AirPods Pro 2 will have better battery life than the current model, along with improved noise cancelling. Neither are that great on the AirPods Pro, so the only way is up for the second-generation edition. The leaker claims that the earbuds will feature ambient light sensors (ALS) too, although it is unclear why Apple would include these. According to DigiTimes, these may be linked to health features.
