Apple AirPods 3 leaked with a refreshed design and a new charging case

Last year, 52Audio published images of the supposed AirPods 3, which it has now followed-up with what it claims to be a hands-on image of Apple's upcoming TWS earbuds. According to Mark Gurman, Apple will unveil the AirPods 3 this side of the summer.

In October, Gurman added that the AirPods 3 would adopt the AirPod Pro's design, which 52Audio's latest image seemingly confirms. The AirPods 3 appear to have a shorter stem than the AirPods 2, for example, while being less bulbous than the AirPods Pro. Additionally, 52Audio states that the AirPods 3 has a pressure equalisation membrane at the top of each earbud and a microphone pick-up point at the top of each stem. Moreover, there is another piece of black mesh on the inside of each earbud that 52Audio asserts will be for an infrared sensor and another pressure equalisation membrane.

The AirPods 3 should feature replaceable silicone ear tips too, just like the AirPods Pro. 52Audio's shows that Apple has revamped the charging case for the AirPods 3, which is a cross between the AirPods 2 and the AirPods Pro cases. Unfortunately, Gurman believes that Apple will continue to reserve ANC for the AirPods Pro series. However, silicone ear tips should help the AirPods 3 achieve better passive noise cancellation than the AirPods 2 do.
