Apple markets the Beats Studio Buds Apple as a more compact and cheaper alternative to the AirPods Pro, currently the company's flagship earbuds. The Studio Buds have more about them than just a cheaper price tag and a smaller footprint though, such as active noise cancellation (ANC), compatibility with Android smartphones and up to eight hours of battery life.
The Studio Buds have gained even more features in their latest update though, including some from the AirPods Pro. As usual, Apple has not commented on what changes it has made with the earbuds' new firmware. However, MacRumors has noticed some new features that were not present in older firmware. For example, the Studio Buds can now automatically connect to all Apple devices used with the same Apple ID.
Additionally, Apple has added a battery pop-up that appears on a paired iPhone when you open the charging case near it. While simple, the pop-up tells you how much battery life each earbud has, as well as the charging case. Separately, Apple has added volume controls, triggerable on the earbuds' touch-sensitive areas. Incidentally, you can alter this functionality within Bluetooth settings on an iPhone or in the Beats Android app.
This month's update is rolling out now for iPhone and Android users. If you own the former, then the update will automatically install when you next connect your earbuds. By contrast, Android users must install the update through the Beats app.
