Apple releases Year of the Tiger-themed AirPods Pros and Beats Studio Buds
2022 has come around as the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac system, thus leaving the Year of the Ox in the dust. To this end, Apple has released versions of the Beats Studio Buds and AirPods Pro with new themes to match.
Both type of TWS earbuds from the Cupertino giant have the same specs as their 'normal' counterparts, active noise cancellation, Transparency Modes and Spatial Audio in the case of the AirPods Pro. However, the Beats Studio Buds Year of the Tiger Edition features new, appropriately stripe-like, slashes of gold over their default red colorway.
These accents also extend to the touch controls on the exterior face of the Buds. The corresponding AirPods Pro look the exact same as any other, however. Then again, their case comes engraved with a new, specially-designed tiger-face emoji.
This graphic is also applied to the retail box in red. These AirPods Pro - Tigers are available on the China or Hong Kong Apple Stores online at present, whereas the limited-edition Beats Studio Buds are China-only exclusives.
They are set at the same 1,099 yuan (~US$173) price of regular Studio Buds, whereas the AirPods Pro - Tiger editions cost 1,999 in either RMB (~$314) or Hong Kong dollars (~$256) as applicable. Both new kinds of TWS earbuds are available from today (January 1, 2022).
