The Global MIUI 12 upgrade for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 may be missing multiple features as the Redmi Note 7 receives a new update
So, Xiaomi finally released MIUI 12 to the global edition of the Redmi Note 8, after months of waiting. The update brings the handset onto Android 10 too, but all is not well with the inaugural MIUI 12 update for the device. Currently, the update to look out for is V12.0.1.0.QCOMIXM, although it appears to be on a limited release for the time being.
According to multiple posts on Mi.com, it seems that Xiaomi has committed a few features that it typically includes in Android 10 builds of MIUI 12. Apparently, the Redmi Note 8 does not currently have Android 10's navigation pill, nor the animations that Xiaomi introduced to its in-house OS as of MIUI 12. Gallery features are missing too, as is the option to enable floating windows.
Xiaomi lists the Redmi Note 8 as one of the devices that should support floating windows though, so we are unsure why the company has failed to include the feature in V12.0.1.0.QCOMIXM. Unsurprisingly, owners of the Redmi Note 8 are unhappy at the features that Xiaomi has failed to bring to their handsets.
Separately, Xiaomi has seeded another MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 7. The update, V12.0.2.0.QFGCNXM, brings the Chinese version of the Redmi Note 7 into line with the European variant that Xiaomi updated earlier this month. Xiaomi is yet to bring MIUI 12 to the global, Russian or Indian variants of the Redmi Note 7, though.
