The Xiaomi Mijia Paipai is a wireless casting adapter that retails for just US$53.99. Resembling two Chromecasts, the Mijia Paipai Wireless Casting Adapter operates over 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks to transmit 1080p content from up to 10 metres away.

It has been a few months since Xiaomi unveiled the Mi TV Stick, its answer to the likes of the Amazon Fire TV Stick. Now, the Chinese company has released a device that looks like a Google Chromecast. However, the Mijia Paipai is a bit different from the Mi TV Stick or a Chromecast in that it is a wireless casting adapter.

The Xiaomi Mijia Paipai comprises two units - one that plugs into a monitor and the other into a computer. According to a listing on AliExpress, the Paipai utilises 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks to transmit data between the two units at up to 10 metres from each other. Presumably, the Mijia Paiai will offer lower latency the closer you have the two units, but we are yet to find any reviews of the device online.

The Mijia Paipai should transmit in up to 1080p at 60 Hz. AliExpress' product listing states that the device is compatible with Windows 7 and macOS 10.10 or newer. Hence, it is unclear whether the Mijia Paipai will work on other OSes like Linux and Android. If you are interested in the Mijia Paipai Wireless Casting Adapter, it retails for US$53.99 on AliExpress before any discounts.
