Trouble in paradise: Apple iPhone 12 mini plagued by touch response issues
Hardware or software display-related problems or not, the iPhone 12 mini already looks like a very successful product that is forcing many smartphone makers from the Android side of the market to reconsider their existing design approach and add compact models to their portfolios as well. However, it looks like Apple needs to take care of this issue soon.
The issue has been described by MacRumors Forums member MacBainNO last Friday and this is the feedback template that he edited for the others having similar problems to use when submitting it to Apple: "There is a problem with the lock screen not detecting presses on the camera, flashlight or anything unless you press very gently. Issue only occurs when using BOTH a screen protector and a case. If you touch something conductive like the frame or the camera lens frame it works."
The MacRumors Forums post mentioned above started a discussion that is already 24 pages long. However, the thread on Apple's own forums still needs to take off. Lastly, there's also a Reddit discussion that has been initiated two days ago and has received a total of 283 comments so far (see the source links below the final paragraph for all these three discussions).
The conclusion is that there's no conclusion yet and we will get back to this topic as soon as Apple comes up with a software update or at least a reply about the cause of this problem. After all, it could as well be a serious hardware problem that could prompt the company to do a mass recall of the affected iPhone 12 mini batches.
