COVID-19 has caused some internet cafes to pivot their business models, with RTX 30 series graphics cards replacing people. Unsurprisingly these new graphics cards are being used for mining cryptocurrencies.

According to a Facebook post by the company, a chain of popular internet cafes in Vietnam has switched to mining cryptocurrencies. STAR GAMING claims that the change has generated more profit than when it operated as an internet cafe, too.

STAR GAMING already has plenty of computers onsite, so it all needed was a truckload of RTX 3080 graphics cards with which to mine cryptocurrencies. The photos published on Facebook show STAR GAMING using at least 64 RTX 3080 cards, although we would not be surprised there were more onsite.

These cards appear to be retail units too, based on the extensive RGB lighting shown. According to Videocardz, a computer store owns STAR GAMING, which may account for how it got its hands on so many RTX 3080 cards. Ultimately, we do not knock the ingenuity of this internet cafe company. However, it is galling to see that many RTX 3080 cards owned by one business when NVIDIA has stated that it will have limited stock for consumers until May 2021, at the earliest.
