Apple MacBook Pro 16 2019 Laptop Review: A convincing Core i9-9880H and Radeon Pro 5500M powered multimedia laptop
Intel Core i9-9880H | AMD Radeon Pro 5500M | 16.00" | 2 kg
The AP1024 is the built-in SSD from several Apple computers including the 16-inch MB Pro (2019). The NVMe class drive's performance is mid-range to high-end by H1 2020 standards. Each and every file stored on the AP1024 gets encrypted by the Apple T2 security chip. The SSD is not user replaceable.
Apple sources SSDs from several manufacturers including Sandisk and Toshiba/Kioxia. To figure out the exact spec of an AP1024, please use HWINFO or a similar app.
Here is our opinion on the product:
.... the drive falls short of the class average in some areas. 4K transfer speeds with a queue depth of 1 are below-average, for instance, while it performed surprisingly weakly in the PCMark 8 Storage Test too. Overall, other drives like the Samsung 970 Pro edge out the AP1024 on performance - Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch (2019) Review from 2019
