Geekbench 5 now lists a set of results for a "HMD Global Nokia 8 V 5G UW". The last part of this elongated name suggests that it can use Verizon's ultra-wideband (or UW) form of the latest mobile-data standard, and may thus be locked to or at least sold through the carrier at launch. Therefore, this device, should it be real, may be a rebranded 8.3.

A new Ookla study shows Qualcomm has the fastest 5G chipsets in the UK and US for the first half of 2020

Qualcomm has published the results of a study conducted by Ookla on 5G speeds in the US and UK for the first and second quarters of 2020 (1-2Q2020). It apparently concludes that the fastest phones in this regard had chipsets and modems made by this prominent chipmaker. Specifically, they were the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 855+ mobile platforms.

Qualcomm has announced that its third fiscal quarter of 2020 (3FQ2020, which ended on June 28 of this year) ended with a total of US$4.89 billion in revenue. It also reported $848 million in pre-tax profits, and paying $0.74 per share in dividends. However, it also already projects that, thanks to a new deal with Huawei, 4FQ2020 will turn out much better.

LG may add a new, Dimensity 800-powered phone to the Velvet series soon: new leak

A new entry to the Google Play Console database reportedly points to a new phone called Velvet. However, this device has a MediaTek Dimensity 800 chipset, whereas the current LG device with the same moniker is powered by the Snapdragon 765G. It also apparently has 6GB of RAM and an FHD+ screen.
