Back in the days when Huawei was just another smartphone OEM and not an electronics firm on the US administration's Entity List, it started a trend of releasing variants of its flagship devices (and wearables) in partnership with Porsche Design. The resulting special editions often had markedly different styling compared to the "normal" premium versions, as well as occasionally improved specs.
According to the leaker @RODENT950, the upcoming line of phablets will also get this brand-partner treatment. This variant may be called the Mate 40 RS or possibly the Mate 40 RS Porsche Design. A new image also tweeted by this account indicates that it will come with its series' new and more than slightly octahedral rear camera module.
As with previous leaks concerning this new physical feature, it is depicted as profoundly large and as housing up to 6 active components. In the putative Mate 40 RS, it is set into a rear panel with racing stripes placed on either side of it. These accents also function to emphasize its Porsche Design branding.
@RODENT950 has also noted that this rear panel is made of ceramic, which will be available in black or white. The leaker also now asserts that this version of the Mate 40 will cost €2000 (~US$2343). This may sound expensive; however, its closest predecessor cost even more (€2095, or ~$2454) at launch.
