Rumor | The Huawei Watch GT 2 has an upcoming Porsche Design variant

A tech blog claims to have grabbed screenshots from a video in which a pre-launch Huawei smartwatch is unboxed and powered on. This alleged material shows that it is called the Watch GT 2 Porsche Design, indicating it has the same premium brand partner as some variants of the Mate phablet series.

Porsche Design has not collaborated with the OEM on a wearable since the Huawei Watch 2. Now, however, this new rumor suggests both names are back together for the purposes of the second-gen GT. According to the video, it looks much like the 2 or 2 Pro, except for its new, brand-themed chronometer or tachymeter and metallic band.

It also apparently has a custom boot animation with the studio's logo, and shows up as the "Porsche Design GT2-55B" on a smartphone pairing screen. Then again, this same video is described as having been "pulled" from YouTube, which impairs the validity of this leak somewhat.

Should it turn out to be genuine, however, it is possible this GT 2 Porsche Design (which could be renamed the Watch RS or GTRS for the European market) will launch alongside the Mates 40 on their launch. It may also enhance the odds of a similar special edition for this flagship device.
