Best of Both Worlds? Toshiba is promising a "High-performance Tablet" and a "Fully-equipped Notebook" - all in one device. Is that possible with a standard HDD and AMDs weakest APU?

The people's smartphone. Google dubs its latest highlight "Moto G" that is sold by the subsidiary Motorola. The smartphone fuses high-performance hardware with a reasonable price. We checked whether this strategy adds up.

Defective product. A Temash APU, IPS panel and lighter than a Vaio Tap 11. Has MSI introduced the perfect tablet to the market?

Marathon runner in business attire. A slim and extremely light magnesium case makes the Toshiba Portégé Z30 one of the most mobile notebooks of its range. The lavishly equipped 13-inch laptop further scores with long battery runtimes and great performance - but is this enough to justify the expensive price of almost 1,500 Euros (~$2038)?

Green with envy? The Envy 15-j011sg is aimed at price-conscious multimedia users. Powerful mid-range hardware in the form of a Core i5-4200M, and a GeForce GT 740M has been packed in an elegant 15 inch chassis along with a Full HD screen. The sound system proves to be the biggest highlight.

Basically basic. Cramming as much computer as possible into a case for $400 is a challenging and often perilous task. With their Aspire E1-470P, Acer takes another swipe at low-cost leadership in the Windows touchscreen category of devices. Was it worth the effort?

Large, colorful and extravagant. The One Touch Idol X is Alcatel's bid on the international smartphone market. The slim model boasts a 5-inch display which offers bright colors. Is that enough to be ranked amongst the high-end smartphones? Let us find out.

Smaller brother? Asus offers two similar-looking 13.3-inch Zenbooks which differ completely at their cores. As these models are Ultrabooks, they are light, thin and equipped with a touchscreen. The UX301LA performed very well in our test. Can the affordable UX302LA match the high standards set by its predecessor?

Stamina and stability. Both are quite the virtues of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 8, thanks to its large 6000 mAh battery and the integrated kickstand. But what about the rest of its ingredients? While both the bright 8-inch IPS display and the unusual shape make for great eye-catchers, we will have to see whether the MediaTek MT8389 SoC with 1.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage space suffice to remain competitive in the price segment below 300 Euros (~$412).

A chameleon. The multi-flip presents itself as a transformation artist. At one moment, it sports a clamshell look; in the next, it is suddenly a tablet PC. What does Sony do better or worse than the numerous convertibles on the market?

Business hybrid. Lenovo's new 12.5-inch ThinkPad Yoga borrows the 360-degree folding screen design from the consumer-oriented IdeaPad-line and adapts it for business use. Does the versatile Ultrabook convertible with its innovative usage-modes still offer the legendary ThinkPad quality we've come to expect from the series?

Bay Trail in a notebook. Packard Bell's 10-inch notebook is already available for just under 300 Euros (~$410). For that sum the buyer will receive Windows 8, a touchscreen and MS Office Home & Student 2013. The device runs on a new Bay Trail Celeron. Is the little notebook worth the money? Aluminum office. Dell's Inspiron 14-7437 is an aluminum ultrabook with a touchscreen as well as Windows 8 and reminds us of a MacBook. How does it perform in our review?

Pulled all the punches? Only 10 millimeters thick, yet a Windows tablet with the usual speedy performance? Sony believes demanding users can work more productively than ever with a Windows tablet today without sacrificing comfort or mobility. Is it the tablet highlight of the year?

8-inch versatility. The Dell Venue 8 Pro is an 8-inch tablet based on Intel's current-generation Atom processor. Does the pint-sized Windows 8.1 tablet, which comes with MS Office free of charge, really enhance productivity and is it a worthwhile investment?

Sharp new laptop. Toshiba's M50-A series aims at the large consumer market, choosing the right internals ranging from a high-performance Haswell-generation ULV CPU to a dedicated graphics card for gamers. That our test device still doesn't manage to reach one of the top spots when compared to its similarly specced competitors is mostly due to the chassis as well as the display.

Firefox for the phone. In 2004, Mozilla revolutionized the Internet world with its Firefox browser. Now the non-profit organization launches a mobile operating system on the market dubbed Firefox OS. One of the first cell phones featuring this OS is the affordable Alcatel One Touch Fire that we put through its paces. Is another revolution now coming our way?

Showing true colors. Gaming laptops not only stand out through enormous power; they also want to win over the hearts of gamers with a daring design. Gigabyte also follows this path with its P25W, and creates a gaming machine with a bright yellow surface along with a metallic wrist rest. Does courage plus power add up to perfection?

Duo. Asus offers the fourth generation of its tablet-smartphone combination with the New Padfone. There has been enough time to improve every aspect of the concept and get rid of initial problems, but was the manufacturer successful?

It's a ThinkPad – will it do the thinking for you? At first glance, Lenovo's new L440 from the ThinkPad line looks well-built and seems rigid as expected.
