AMD has now officially unveiled the Ryzen 4000 APU series for pre-built OEM desktops across consumer and commercial segments. The Ryzen 4000G APUs sport the exact same configuration as their mobile counterparts but feature additional TDP headroom that allows for higher CPU and GPU clocks. AMD is pitting the Ryzen 7 4700G against the likes of the Core i7-9700 and claims that it has managed to slam dunk the competition.

AMD has formally launched its Ryzen 4000 line-up today. Of these, their PRO variants are naturally aimed at enterprise-grade desktops. The OEM asserts that these 7 nanometer (nm) solutions offer speeds that outstrip certain Intel competitors by up to 31%. By contrast, the new Athlon 3000 G-series is still based on the Zen+ architecture.

Although this feat has been achieved using ice cubes in an improvised hardware setup that cannot run for long periods under the record-breaking frequency of almost 5 GHz, it is worth mentioning that the AMD Ryzen 7 4700G Renoir APU has been pushed all the way up to 4.96 GHz across all cores.

Lenovo has also added new tower-form PCs to its new Legion gaming line-up. Its Tower 5 variant can have up to the Ryzen 9 3950X as a processor, as well as RTX 2070 SUPER graphics. The IdeaCentre Gaming 5 is a Ryzen 7 3700X/RTX 2060 machine with improved thermals.

The Tuxedo Pulse 15 comes pre-loaded with Ubuntu, TUXEDO_OS and other distributions. Windows is an option too, as is an encrypted Linux system. The Tuxedo Pulse 15 comes with either an AMD Ryzen 5 4600H or a Ryzen 7 4800H APU, along with a 91 Wh battery and multiple keyboard layouts.

We have both the Intel version and the AMD version of the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 1 in house for testing right now. Like with the bigger ThinkPad T14s, the AMD Ryzen 4000 model clearly dominates.

Leaked benchmarks over on the Chiphell forums paint a positive picture of AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 7 4700G APU. Once overclocked, the APU’s Vega 8 integrated GPU delivered 3DMark Fire Strike performance that wasn’t too far off from the discrete GeForce GTX 1050 and leaked Intel Xe DG1 scores.

Available in late July is the IdeaPad Gaming 3 15.6-inch starting at US$659 with a GTX 1650 Ti GPU, while the Legion 5 17-incher is packing an RTX 2060 GPU will be available in September for US$1,089 and up. There also is a legion 5P esports edition, but this will not be available in the U.S.

The publication of the JEDEC specifications is paving the way for the accelerated adoption of the DDR5 standard. Key specs for the upcoming AMD-powered Honor MagicBook Pro laptop have been leaked, and it seems buyers will be able to choose between a Ryzen 7 4800H APU and a Ryzen 5 4600H chip. However, some have been lamenting the presence of DDR4 2666 MHz RAM that is most likely going to be soldered in the Renoir variant of the MagicBook Pro 2020.

A refreshed version of Huawei’s MateBook D laptop lineup was spotted on 3DMark, featuring the 15W Ryzen 7 4700U and a 512GB Samsung NVMe SSD. While it matches the Redmibook lineup with its Renoir APU, we have no word on pricing just yet.

A leaked has confirmed the full product stack of the Ryzen Threadripper 3000 PRO series. AMD's latest Threadripper processors are expected to land on July 14 with between 12 and 64 cores.

A little late, but it is finally here: The AMD versions of the ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 and ThinkPad T14s Gen 1 are available. The two 14 inch business laptops are the first T series ThinkPads with AMD Ryzen 4000, also known as AMD Renoir.

Dell launched a new XPS desktop today. The desktop can be configured with high-end specs like a 10th Gen Intel Core i9 CPU and either an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5700XT. The desktop is also designed to be upgraded by the end-user.

Ryzen 4000 desktop processors will be launching this year, AMD CEO Lisa Su has confirmed. Codenamed "Vermeer", the processors are based on the company's Zen 3 architecture and an improved 7 nm process.

The new 15.6-inch Lavie N1585 laptop is currently the only model equipped with the unannounced Ryzen 7 Extreme Edition APU, which appears to have identical specs to the Ryzen 7 4800U model. Other specs include 16 GB of RAM plus 1 TB NVMe SSD, and NEC recommends it for light gaming.

Details about the overclocking potential of the AMD Ryzen 7 4700G have been revealed online. The Zen 2 APU, which is reported to have a 4.4 GHz boost clock and a 65 W TDP, has been shown to reach over 4.7 GHz at 1.425 V. The APU is also thought to include an 8 CU GPU and will support SMT.

Tipster @kopite7kimi leaked specs for two different GA104 cards. However, contrary to expectations, we think that these might represent the same functional SKU and not two different card tiers, considering the very slight spec difference.

Tipster @Execufix spotted a reference to AMD’s upcoming EPYC Milan server lineup. An unspecified EPYC Milan server chip was found to operate with a base frequency of 1.5 GHz and a boost clock of 2.2 GHz, in line with ES clocks for EPYC Rome parts. If EPYC Milan hits these clocks in its final avatar, it should provide a noticeable performance boost versus EPYC Rome parts.

With the MateBook 13, Huawei has a low-priced subnotebook in its product portfolio, which confronts buyers with the choice between an Intel or an AMD chipset. This is not an easy decision as neither of the two achieves a real dominance.

Lenovo has quietly updated one of the most interesting consumer laptops made by the Chinese company in the last year: The Lenovo IdeaPad S540, which sports a screen in the rare 16:10 aspect ratio. The new version S540-13ARE sports AMD Ryzen 4000. The catch: It is not available in the USA, at least for now.

Dell's July 4th weekend sale is cutting $50 off last year's Inspiron 14 5000 convertible. Its chassis and hardware aren't half bad especially for a 1080p subnotebook convertible with the performance level of a Core i7.

A possible 2020 Apple iMac refresh device has been discovered on Geekbench with some surprising components: An unknown Intel Core i9-10910 processor and an unannounced AMD Radeon Pro 5300 desktop GPU. There has been speculation before of an upcoming refreshed 27-inch iMac being configured with a fast Comet Lake Core i9 CPU.

The Beelink GT-R comes with premium features like a fingerprint scanner, magnesium alloy case and triple heatpipe silent cooling system. Besides the Ryzen 5 3550H APU with Vega 8 iGPU, there is support for up to 32 GB of RAM, and the storage solutions can include PCIe 3.0 4x NVMe and SATA 3 SSDs, along with a 2.5-inch HDD. There is support for four video outputs, as well.

Dutch online retailer Centralpoint.nl is already offering tray versions for AMD's top-of-the-line 65 W Ryzen 4000 desktop APUs. These are Euro prices, but we can estimate that the Ryzen 7 Pro 4750G 8-core / 16-thread should cost around US$300, while the Ryzen 5 Pro 4650G 6-core may be priced at around US$200, and the Ryzen 3 Pro 4350G quad-core may end up costing around US$150.

Schenker has announced the VIA 15 Pro, a 15.6-inch Renoir laptop with a 91 Wh battery. The device features either the AMD Ryzen 5 4600H or Ryzen 7 4800H and is freely configurable up to 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage. The 1.4 kg laptop is estimated to start shipping from the end of August.

Apple has quietly released a new graphics card option for the Mac Pro, effectively bringing down the cost of equipping the workstation with GDDR6 VRAM. Called the Radeon Pro W5500X, the half-height MPX module is based on AMD's RDNA architecture and has a memory bandwidth of 224 GB/s.

The Lenovo Flex 5 is back for under US$600. Available on Amazon, the device comes with an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U APU, a Radeon RX Vega 6 GPU, 16 GB of dual-channel DDR4-3200 RAM and a 256 GB SSD. An Active Pen is included in the box, too.
