Bristol Ridge or Stoney Ridge, respectively, is the code name for the 7th generation of A-series APUs and the successor to the Carrizo and Carrizo-L APUs. AMD announced the new generation of APUs with the code name Bristol Ridge at Computex 2016. AMD still uses 28 nm chips, but has a bigger focus on the performance class with a TDP of 15 Watts this time. The new APUs are supposed to be available as of now.

Notebooks sporting the 7th generation AMD APU are not expected to launch until after Computex, but Acer and HP have already listed models starting at $799 and $579, respectively.

The new generation will bump performance up by 50 percent compared to the previous generation and will ship with the new HP Enxy x360 convertible.

The three notebooks will all be available by the end of May from $679 to over $1029 USD.

The announcement seems to indicate that AMD wants to significantly strengthen its mobile market presence.

Sales fell 28 percent overall and is expecting to fall again for upcoming Q1 2016, but the company remains optimistic on Polaris.
