AMD Ryzen 7 4800H holds its own against Intel's i9-10980HK and i7-10750H on Geekbench with powerful multi-core scores

The Zen 2 AMD Ryzen 7 4800H has been spotted on Geekbench achieving scores that make it very well matched with Intel’s Comet Lake processors Core i9-10980HK and Core i7-10750H. Unsurprisingly, the 6-core i7-10750H falls behind the 8-core counterparts in the multi-core test, but the i9-10980HK has the edge on the Ryzen 7 4800H for the time being.

AMD says chiplet design can cut costs by more than half

AMD has consistently beaten Intel in cost-per-core, but did AMD really need to pursue a chiplet design to make Zen 2 so affordable? New slides from a recent talk at ISSCC show exactly how much the company saved with this approach, and the results are very impressive.

Ray traced audio acceleration is the latest gimmick on Microsoft's Xbox Series X console

Is Microsoft trying to prove that sounds exhibit the same wave-particle duality as light rays? Probably not. This is most likely a clever marketing gimmick that feeds off of the growing popularity of ray traced graphics and mainstream gamers are not even supposed to benefit from it.

The AMD Ryzen 5 4500U can possibly take on an Intel Core i7 Comet Lake-U.

AMD Ryzen 5 4500U powering a purported Lenovo IdeaPad laptop takes the Intel Core i7-10710U to the cleaners in Geekbench 5

A Geekbench 5 listing of the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U powering an unnamed Lenovo laptop seems to indicate that Renoir has enough muscle to beat the Intel Core i7-10710U Comet Lake-U with very good sustained performance. Although not indicated, the Lenovo laptop could, in fact, be an upcoming IdeaPad model.

Acer ConceptD 5 CN515-51 laptop review: Kaby Lake G lightweight struggles with cost cutting

83% Acer ConceptD 5 CN515-51 laptop review: Kaby Lake G lightweight struggles with cost cutting

White featherweight. Acer leaves known paths with its ConceptD 5 CN515-51 to differentiate itself from the competition, with especially lightweight materials, Kaby Lake G with an integrated AMD GPU and a 4K UHD screen that covers a wider color gamut. At the same time, the Acer ConceptD CN515-51 is also cheaper than other multimedia laptops with a 15.6 inch screen. Unfortunately, the necessary cost cuts are showing up quite fast in this comprehensive review.

The all-AMD affair of the Ryzen 7 3750H and Radeon RX 5500M certainly provides a powerful base on which to play the latest triple-A games, but the MSI Alpha 15 falls short of expectations in other areas. The device not only runs loudly but it also has incredibly short battery life. AMD Ryzen 5 4500U takes on the Core i5-102010U and Core i7-9750H — Acer Swift SF314-42 compared to the Dell XPS 13 7390 and the XPS 15 7590 in Geekbench

A Geekbench listing of the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U running on an Acer Swift 3 laptop has surfaced. The Ryzen 5 4500U shows good gains when compared to the Core i5-10210U in the Dell XPS 13 7390. While not on par with the Core i7-9750H in the XPS 15 7590, the Ryzen 5 4500U does bring in a significant gen-on-gen performance bump.

Intel's Core i9-10900K is neck and neck with AMD's Ryzen 9 3900X in the latest 3DMark tests

While the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X might not be a pure 1:1 competitor for the Intel i9-10900K, their similar price tier is quite enough to prompt a comparison in this case. The most important difference between the two CPUs is the core count and the boost clocks, and the latter is supposed to have a greater impact on the scores, but this is not particularly evident in the latest 3DMark scores.
