Crytek employees showcased Crysis 2 gameplay on Twitch, with the game slated to arrive on October 15th. A detailed list of new enhancements was also shared: Crysis 2 will be receiving SVOGI, hardware ray-tracing, and a raft of other features. However, RT will be limited to PC.

G.SKILL's new Trident Z5 DDR5-RAM for gamers offers frequencies of up to 6400MHz, low CL timings and supposedly has enough headroom for further overclocking.

AMD has unveiled the Radeon RX 6600, its answer to NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3060. The RDNA 2-based card arrives with a US$329 MSRP and supposedly delivers 'the ultimate 1080p gaming experience'.

Acer has announced the Predator Orion 7000 desktop PC aimed at enthusiast gamers. The Predator Orion 7000 features Intel 12th gen Alder Lake processors, DDR5-4000 RAM, and a choice of Nvidia RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 GPUs. Acer said the Predator Orion 7000 offers vastly improved thermals with AIO cooling along with a host of connectivity options.

Acer has unveiled the Predator GD711 as its new "smart projector" for gaming. It is rated to throw HDR10 content at "high dynamic contrast" and a wide color gamut, at a brightness of up to 4,000 LED lumens. The projector is compatible with PCs or consoles, offering a high refresh rate on either platform.

Microsoft is preparing Microsoft 365 and Office 2021 for release on October 5 on Windows and macOS devices for business, personal and student customers. An Intel Core i9-12900 Alder Lake chip has been spotted being tested on an Asus ROG Maximus Z690 Extreme motherboard. The upcoming 16-core, 24-thread processor somehow managed to obliterate performance records on UserBenchmark, easily surpassing the average bench and 1-core scores of the Intel Core i9-11900K.

The Battlefield 2042 open beta still kick off on October 6 for early adapters and October 8 for everyone else. EA has also listed the system requirements needed to play the beta. Those are likely tentative and could change with the game's final release.

A benchmark preview of the Intel Core i9-12900K has been accidentally posted online, and it shows the 12th Gen Alder Lake hybrid chip offering a seesaw-like performance against the Rocket Lake i9-11900K. While the engineering sample does show promise even without the AVX-512 instruction set, it could not shine against the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X Zen 3 part.

New performance predictions for the Apple M1X SoC have been offered up, and they show the 10-core Apple Silicon surpassing the 16-core Intel Xeon W-3245 in the Mac Pro from Late 2019. It has also been reckoned that the M1X cores will be based on both M1 and A15 cores, presumably for increased efficiency.

The two processors were tied at around 26,000 points in the previously leaked benchmarks, but now the Alder Lake model breaks the 30,000 point threshold. AMD users will quickly point out that the R9 5950X can easily be tweaked to score above 31,000 points, but keep in mind that the Intel CPU is not overclocked in this scenario. HP has revealed a new All-in-One Desktop PC, the HP Envy 34. Not only does the machine feature a 21:9 and 2,160p display, but it also has an Intel Core i9 desktop processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPU. The Envy 34 inch All-in-One Desktop PC starts from US$1,999.

The prices of current AMD and NVIDIA desktop graphics cards are continuing to move away from MSRP, having bottomed out in July. Both the RX 6000 and RTX 30 series are now selling for around 1.7x MSRP, with second-hand prices remaining at inflated levels, too.
