Price predictions for both the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 and the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT have been offered up by a YouTuber who focuses their channel mostly on graphics cards. Estimates for the RTX 4090 and RX 7900 XT come in at just under US$2,000, with the AMD Navi 31-based card expected to outperform the Lovelace AD102 GPU-powered rival.

Some intriguing predictions have been made by Graphically Challenged again in regard to next-gen graphics card pricing and performance. A few months ago, the content creator posted a list of MSRP price predictions for the upcoming GeForce RTX 40 series, which will be based on the Lovelace architecture. The high-end RTX 4090 that should sport the AD102 GPU was placed alongside a gut-punching price guess of US$2,999, while the cheapest card in the series, the RTX 4050, was estimated at US$279. However, the volatile graphics card market has resulted in the TechTuber revising their estimates for the RTX 4090 and also offering a prediction for AMD’s RX 7900 XT.

This time around, the GeForce RTX 4090 gets the still hefty price tag of US$1,899, with an announcement in September and availability in October. While that price is US$400 above the original MSRP for the RTX 3090, it would be considered a bargain if gamers and builders could actually find it at that price compared to the current inflated GPU prices caused by crypto mining demand and scalping. As for the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT with its RDNA 3 architecture and Navi 31 GPU, Graphically Challenged reckons it will only be slightly more expensive than the RTX 4090, coming in at US$1,999 with an announcement for it made in December and availability starting in the first quarter of 2023.

An interesting and arguable prediction between the RTX 4090 and RX 7900 XT is made in regard to performance disparity. The poster opines that “AMD will win by 20% I think”, which is a more than considerable margin. It seems to be quite the outrageous claim, as the RTX 3090 and RX 6900 XT are generally evenly matched for performance and gaming, although the Navi 21-based board has advantages with rasterization and power requirement. But the upcoming RX 7900 XT will make use of a multi-chip module design that offers three times the amount of stream processors as the RX 6900 XT - 15,360 vs. 5,120 - so it should be an absolute powerhouse of a graphics card.
