Orange Slovakia has jumped the gun once again, this time with the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. Also called the S20 Fan Edition, Orange Slovakia's listing follows a similar one by Samsung Philippines last week. The S20 FE will launch in two variants later this month and will be one of the only Samsung smartphones to offer the Snapdragon 865 in Europe.

The display and the communication components are the priciest parts.

After multiple reports of green tint displays from owners of the OnePlus 8 Pro, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, iPhone 11 Pro series, and Galaxy Tab S7 series, it appears the issue also plagues Samsung's older Galaxy S10 series. Samsung fans rejoice, for a Snapdragon 865 version of the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition will be launching in Europe. There will also be a 4G Exynos 990 model, but there may well be a huge difference in performance between the two editions. The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, shortened to the Galaxy S20 FE, will be available in six colours and will have a 120 Hz display too.

Samsung is allegedly working on three new foldable phones

We haven't even found out when exactly the new Galaxy Z Fold 2 is going to be available, yet rumors about other upcoming foldable models are already circulating on Twitter. Details are quite skimpy, but it looks like Samsung plans to finally add S Pen support on next year's flagship foldable, while the highly anticipated sub-US$1,000 model is supposed to integrate a cheaper screen protective layer. Moreover, there apparently is another model, which is getting a screen that folds both inwards and outwards.

Many Samsung fans may have been disappointed to learn that the latest in the Galaxy Note lines were getting Exynos-powered SKUs in some markets via pre-launch leaks. However, other reports claimed that this processor – the 990 – had been updated so as to improve performance in these newer devices compared to the Galaxy S20 series with which they share the chipset. Qualcomm has published the results of a study conducted by Ookla on 5G speeds in the US and UK for the first and second quarters of 2020 (1-2Q2020). It apparently concludes that the fastest phones in this regard had chipsets and modems made by this prominent chipmaker. Specifically, they were the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 855+ mobile platforms.

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 3 looks like it will pack a few new tricks up its sleeve. Based on an examination of the new plugin software users will be able to use new gestures and movements to answer and reject phones.

The US smartphone market declined by 25% in the second quarter of 2020

The volume of sales completed in the US smartphone market fell by 25% year-on-year (YoY) in 2020's second quarter (2Q2020). This was attributed to the effect of Covid-19-related lockdowns, and on a tendency to buy phones through carriers in the country. All major OEMs in this space saw reductions in their sales, with Samsung seeing the least adversity in this respect.

Samsung's incoming Galaxy Tab S7 could drop Super AMOLED for an LCD display

In the latest Galaxy Tab S7 leak, it appears the Korean company could be taking one step forward and two steps backwards with its latest slate. While the panel might now sport a 120 Hz refresh rate to match the iPad Pro ‘Pro Motion’ tech, it looks like it will step back to a cheaper LCD panel to deliver the new feature.

Galaxy Unpacked August 5 to showcase five new devices

Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked Event looks increasingly like it will include the reveal of both the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. Samsung’s President and Head of Mobile Communications Business TM Roh has revealed in a blog post that the company will “be introducing five new power devices” at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event.
