Samsung Galaxy S21 series might allow users to unlock their devices using Bixby Voice
The Samsung Galaxy S21 series will add a new method of biometric authentication. If leaked renders of the smartphones are anything to go by, we can rule out any chances of a Face ID-like solution, as the screen only houses the selfie camera. Sources familiar with the matter have told Sammobile that all three Samsung Galaxy S21 smartphones will let users unlock their devices using Bixby Voice.
The ability to unlock your Galaxy S21 smartphone with Bixby Voice is likely going to be a part of the One UI 3.1. Like always, Samsung's H1 2021 flagships are all set to launch with several features that will remain exclusive to the devices for some time. It shouldn't be long before we find out, as Samsung is expected to launch Galaxy S21 series sometime in January 2021.
It's quite interesting to hear that Samsung has opted to bring back the long-dead voice unlock feature with the Galaxy S21. Another layer of authentication after issuing the unlock command would undoubtedly help the situation. One way of going about it would be to have the user say a second keyphrase out loud once the hotword (Hi, Bixby, in this case) has been invoked. Having the user speak a new word, which will be displayed on the screen every time the phone is unlocked, should make the whole process somewhat secure.
