Samsung will reveal the Galaxy S21 series on January 14, 2021, according to Jon Prosser. Tweeting his followers yesterday, Prosser states that January 14 will be the date when Samsung reveals the full Galaxy S21 series - namely the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus and Galaxy S21 Ultra. The three devices will be available to pre-order from January 14 too, with an official launch reputedly planned for January 29, 2021.
By contrast, Samsung announced this year's Galaxy S20 series on February 11, before launching them on March 6. Prosser adds that Samsung's next flagships will be available in the following colours:
- Black
- Grey
- Silver
- Pink
- Violet
- White
It is unclear if Samsung plans to bring those six colours to all three handsets, but it would be unusual if the company did so. The early release date may not be the only surprise of next year's Galaxy S series, though. According to SamMobile, Samsung is 'currently considering ditching' the AKG-branded earbuds that it currently bundles with its premium smartphones. Citing an unnamed source from South Korea, SamMobile asserts that Samsung may replace wired AKG earbuds with own-brand wireless ones. The website adds that these earbuds may be the Galaxy Buds Beyond, the successors to the Galaxy Buds Plus that Samsung recently certified with the EUIPO.
The Galaxy Buds Plus originally retailed for US$149.99, so bundling equivalently-priced earbuds with the Galaxy S21 series would seem like an expensive move for Samsung. Nonetheless, it would help the company differentiate itself from Apple, since the latter has removed earbuds from its smartphones in most markets.
